TEEN WAS COP'S SONBy LISA PULITZER February 25, 2004 -- Dozens of grieving NYPD cops filled a Long Island funeral home yesterday to mourn the death of a tragic Long Island high-school wrestler killed in a car driven by a teammate allegedly on drugs.Patrick Butler, 16, who died early Monday on Sunrise Highway in Wantagh, lay in an open casket as about 100 officers filed into the Charles G. Schmitt Funeral Home in Seaford, L.I., to pay respects to his father, NYPD Sgt. Joe Butler, and mother, Sissy. The teenager was one of five Seaford HS wrestlers riding in a car driven by Michael Moor, 18, when it careened into a utility pole and was sheared in half.Moor was charged with driving under the influence of drugs. Three other teammates were injured.Police said Moor was arguing with another driver when he lost control of his vehicle.A lawyer for Moor said his client may have been taking Ritalin, a prescription drug for treating patients with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder."I am confident in saying that there were no illegal drugs involved in this case, but [Moor] may have been on a prescribed medicine," said the attorney, Leonard Symons. "It may be Ritalin."Symons described Moor and Butler as "lifelong friends. Our hearts go out to the families, and especially to the Butler family," he said.Nassau County police said they were awaiting results of Moor's toxicology tests. homelessness is a national embarrassment Http://www.msfraud.org New Photos - easier uploading and sharing
