Guest guest
Hello One & All, I've recently become interested in acupressure due to the realization (with the gracious assistance of some on another list!) that I have the potential to cure my allergies using NAET (Nambudripad's Allergy Elimination Technique). See: http://www.naet.com/ After receiving her book: " Living Pain Free " and being inherently lazy I realize that there are Electrical Acupoint Stimulators available such as the one at: http://www.japo.fi/~dante/ACU.HTM which make acupressure stimulation much easier and perhaps more effective. Incidently the book does not describe how to cure allergies specifically but deals with painful conditions which may result as a reaction to allergies. She obviously wants you to go to one of her trained professionals to get a treatment for allergies. By the time one pays the exchange rate, shipping, customs and duty on products one can anticipate them doubling in price! Besides I have a frequency generator and the capability to construct simple electronic circuits so I see no reason to purchase one. Plus of course the challenge and satisfaction of creating an instrument with which you can heal yourself. The output can't be that difficult to duplicate (or enhance) if one knew the particulars such as: configuration of electrodes (easily determined by examining one), the output impedance, waveform, frequency and peak to peak voltage. I looked at the waveform on my oscilloscope of a TENS type stimulator; it was an AC damped wave, : about 2Khz sub-modulation with a pulse repitition rate of about 1.3Hz . Amplitude was max on the pulse leading edge up to maybe 36 volts... To be sure all Electrical Acupoint Stimulators are not created equal. Moreover it is possible that certain stimulators may be more effective for some bodies and others better for other types. Other than the complex waveform I describe I received information on basic waveforms from 3 others. 1/ Pointer-Plus: retails for $125.00 Cdn. has an output intensity of 0-22mA. @ 10 Hz. Pulse width 240usec and a wave shape " biphasic square pulse with negative spike " It uses a 9v battery. 2/ Pointer-Plus SP4: same except 4 Hz. 3/ Professional 900: retails for $320.00 Cdn. Promoted by retailer to be the best (certainly has the highest profit margin) 2.5 Hz. (Endorphin Release) Square wave, 50% duty cycle (200msec pulse width) Output is listed at 3.5 volts dc. (I presume this to be an offset) Intensity 500 uA into 500 ohms. Selection can be made: negative (sedation) positive (tonification) also operates on 9v battery. Some of these devices emit a brief pulse of Piezoelectric current. This is the same type of current emitted by the fascia (a type of connective tissue in the body) when it becomes bent or compressed. The accupuncture/accupressure meridians lie in the fascial plane of the body. These devices temporarily block pain signals. I have a good device on loan...it will cost me about $115.00. I have some info on the manufacturer and a tape and literature came with it. I can't help but imagine that the most effective treatment would occurr using acupuncture needles and electrostimulation. But what current, waveform, frequency and peak to peak voltage? Any positive insight and guidance would be appreciated.
