Guest guest
Hi Josef, Other points to consider for insomnia are shen men (ear), extra points yin tang, sishencong, an mian. Also, Du 20, Liv 2 or 3 Sp 6, depending on what's causing the insomnia in the first place. One of my teachers once prescribed a poultice of an herb on Ki 1. I'm sorry to say I don't remember the herb. I think it's important to figure out what the undelying cause is so that it can be addressed. The person may have a shen disturbance, liver fire, phlegm heat, heart or kidney yin deficiency, gallbladder and heart deficiency, heart and spleen deficiency, etc. Addressing the root cause will enable the more specific sleep points to be effective. If you look in Macioccia's books, he gives guidance to help you determine the syndrome. For instance, trouble falling asleep is a different symptom than waking up later in the night. I'm not (yet) an herbalist, but I've noticed in our school clinic that patients with insomnia often do even better if they take herbs along with getting acupuncture treatments. Again, you'll want to be focusing on the root, as well as the branch, of the problem. When you know the cause, you can also make dietary and lifestyle recommendations, which I think are quite important. For instance, if the person always eats late at night, it's no surprise when sleep is disturbed. Hope this helps! Liz Casey _________________ Get the Internet just the way you want it. I have tried H(heart)7, PC(pericard)6, PC8, R(kidney)3 - only with small success. I have another question. Does anybody from you use laser for acupuncture? Which type and which output power? Many thanks for answer. Josef
