Has anyone used acupuncture to treat ailments for house pets? One of my

cats developed asthma when she was about 9 months old, and has to go to the

vet for cortisone shots every two months, as well as take pills when she

begins having asthma attacks. Does anyone know if acupuncture, or even

acupressure would be able to help?

Thank You

Lauren

In the UK, treatment of animals by anyone other than a vet is a criminal

offence - so check out the law wherever you are before doing this (at least

publicly). there's a Greek acupuncture site I cam across which had lots of

info on treatment of animals with acupuncture - found it through my browser,

but haven't got a name for you - let me know if you don't find it easily

and I'll chase it again.

There are veterinary acupuncturists, and they should be able to help

you.

One of my dogs has had asthma attacks, and has been treated strictly

with acupuncture for that. The vet can also show you what acupressure

points your cat could benefit from, if you'd like to try acupressure

at home.

The following web site lists people who are

various practioners of alternative veterinary medicine:

I have a story about total pet nutrition, that I don't think I have

shared yet. Years ago, our cat had some kittens, and is sometimes the

way in nature, one was a runt. The time came for the kittens to start

eating solid food, and then the mother decided to wean them. I grew

up with animals, so I was very accustomed to this cycle, and long ago

ceased to try and interfere with nature and the ways of a mother with

their young.

However, I wasn't noticing that this runt was too small to reach the

food in the bowl that all the other kittens could eat from with no

trouble. One morning I came into my kitchen to find the runt on the

floor by the bowl, cold, only tiny breaths, obviously on the point of

death. Again, I have had cats all my life, and I knew there was

really not much hope for this kitten. Runts rarely survive. I had

also never seen a cat come back from that close to death. It is the

way of nature. However, I had my total nutrition in raw milk that

morning, and the last drops still remained in the cup. Just to see

what would happen, I put a drop on its mouth. It was too far gone to

even open it's mouth. Some trickled in, so I put another drop. It

was slow work.

By the fourth drop, the kitten opened it's mouth and started licking

it's lips. I fed it more. For the next few days I fed it nothing but

Total pet nutrition in raw milk. (I make my own TN, so expanding some

to TPN was a snap.) It was back to normal in a day, and in a week it

was stronger than ever and well able to jump up and eat out of the

bowl with the rest of the kittens. It found a good home and is still

there and happy and healthy. Total Pet nutrition is the stuff!
