Guest guest
Greg, Thanks for your comments, it is not my intention to indicated that Five Element Acupuncture is any way superior to TCM. To me, it is ALL Acupuncture and really should not be separated. There are so many ways of interpreting what we see, hear, touch...and they are all valid. I guess this was just a knee-jerk response to attacks on Dr. Worsley's approach. In Hawaii, a dominant TCM environment, not Five Element theory, but Dr.Worsley's Five Element is sometimes attacked, I believe a bit unjustly, by those not familar with his work. And my intention was definitely not to attack Five-Element Acupuncture, an approach which I have a great deal of respect for. I sometimes get a knee-jerk reaction too. One time a massage-therapist friend of mine, who had never received an acupuncture treatment, attended a weekend workshop given by a 5-E practitioner for massage therapists. My friend returned from the seminar and lectured me on how there was this special kind of acupuncture called Five-element that actually worked on an emotional level, not just treating pain, and was based on patterns found in nature. Of course I was a bit miffed and tried to explain to her that what she was describing was true of all acupuncture, not just 5-E. I encounter this mentality from time to time and sometimes become defensive around it. Sorry if I put you, or anyone else on the defensive. --Greg
