Guest guest
If this was directed to me. Sorry I can't decipher the MIME file. It comes out with all garbled letters. If this question is also directed to me........'What do you mean exactly?' I mean exactly that many schools DO NOT teach L-5 ChiZe (in classroom NOR in clinic) correctly and most all of the books and diagrams are incomplete presentations of where the point is exactly located. Typically the point is described as: On the cubital crease medial to the tendon opposite PC-3. The real question is HOW MUCH MEDIAL? 2 fen, 1/2 cun, 1 cun, 1+cun or ???? I have seen way too many practitioners place this wonderful point 'miles' off where it belongs. Even off the channel pathway. Therein lies what should be a clue. The image of the channel pathway doesn't seem to come to their minds when needling ChiZe. If one palpates PC-3 (immediately lateral to the tendon) in the cubital crease........one WILL feel a definite sensation that there is a point located there. BUT if you go immediately medial to the same tendon there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING there pertaining to anything, especially Lung 5 ChiZe. Part of the problem exists because the schools don't require much self needling. At least here in the USA from what I have seen. A student SHOULD be required to needle as many points as they can access on their own bodies ....hundreds of times. How else can you get to know what the patient generally will feel. Many points have their own different sensation such as thickness or thinness, etc. I have to close this file and reopen another file from my archives and will post what I consider a fairly accurate triangulation of ChiZe's location. Then you decide if it seems logical along with checking your own sensations. Someone said to me on another list (sarcastically)....'if I found a new point' and 'who was I to challenge all the great masters'. This is NOT A NEW point location and the old masters knew exactly where it was located. Just that the scribes didn't take it down completely nor accurately and for the most part MOST (in the reproductions of books and charts) they couldn't care less. Hope that answers your question....at least initially. Hang on and I will post the description.
