Guest guest
When you treat somebody with real deficiencies (very serious diseases), with clear deficiency patterns (for example, ancient man, with Qi Kidney and Lung deficiency) is better to use herbs. It is not that you musn't use the acup. but if you are not able to feel the Qi, and you are not very skillfull, etc. the minimum mistake and the energy, the esence could be lostor damaged. Great masters combine of course the techniques, but there are just a grape of tehm. I include you below, a table with the realation between the original essence Qi circulation and the months of the year, realated in the book Zhen Jiu Jia Yi Jing: January Shaoyang (SJ/Gb) left February Taeyang (SI/Bl) left March Yangming (LI/St) left April Yangming right May Taeyang right June Shaoyang right July Shaoyin (Ht/K) right August Taeyin (L/Sp) right September Jueyin (PC/Lv) right October Jueyin left November Taeyin left December Shaoyin left Because the original Qi is on this meridians, is better not to puncture it. Obviously, at least that you are treating a very weak patient will be difficult to observe some instant changes, But is very probable that his/her Qi will be escaping through the hole. Muchas gracias por su atención, Than you very much for all your attention, Josep Carrion. jcarrionterapeuta -----Mensaje original-----De: Daniel Germer [danielgermer]Enviado el: sábado, 24 de junio de 2000 18:06Para: 5E_acup Asunto: [5E_acup] tonification and sedation v.supplementation and dispersion Dear everybody, after getting the mail from Gye (ReReRe four needles) I read in there that we would tonify in 99% of all cases. Now, there are some dificulties for me with that since we had somebody in Class (as Patient who had all pulses very deficient. Nevertheless did our Tutor "sedate" the points of the CF (in this case Earth). I wondered why this was like that and did a bit of enquiry. I did not understand it, so I asked first, and our tutor told me that this decision has been made from his experience and knowledge but he could not make me understand. In the reading of Understanding Acupuncture (a brilliant book from Birch, S. and Felt, R., published 1999 by CHurch! ill Livingston) I found a hint some days later. This is what I found: the terminology of CHinese Medicine is difficult, if not impossible, to translate. in the course of Introducing Acuuncture to the west, Terms like Qi have been translated as Energy to make people understand. this translation is in some ways good, in some ways it is not, (Soulie de Mourant did this and Worsley took over some of the terminologies from there) coming to translate the effects of needling, the assumption was close to speak of tonification and sedation, that is bring energy into the system and take energy out the system, much like in a psychoactive drug. However, these expression lure us into thinking that we are sedating the energy, which is not very accurate a better translation would be breath for Qi (in some aspects) or just as we most often do, leaving it in the transcription as Qi, Chi, Ch'i or Ki. attempts to translate tonification were made a! nd I think that the official accepted expressionn is now supplementati on technique and for sedation is dispersion technique(although many of our tutors still use the "old" names). I think again about it and again and very often come back to think about qi as energy, that is not very good as I come to understand better every time I think about it. I hope that you find that a helpful hint for the explanation of Qi, dispersion and supplementation. I think about that obviously very weak person (with AIDS) and remember how our tutor used a technique to disperse the qi, that is to make it moving. (nobody would want to sedate a person in that condition) additionally I want to say that I read somewhere that Acuupnctur in itself is weakening (because we penetrate the skin) I read that for real deficiencies i would be better to use herbs. could anyone comment on that please?
