Guest guest
Groups exist (at least theoretically) for a reason, a common purpose --- a long term thing or some specific goals -- a short term thing; thus they have a mission to accomplish. A good leader/manager keeps the group inspired to something, and identifies and keeps immediate goals/objectives uppermost in the minds of others. He keeps meetings on track and focused on those specific projects next up to be done with an eye toward the philosphy/principles that formed the group. So part of the masonic problem was unity of purpose and thought. They had none. And they had no leader capable of pinpointing priorities and establishing focus of all energies in the same direction towards the accomplishement of something --- or being more succinct, " getting shit done " after first agreeing what the shit was. Once you know what the goal is, you need to know what resources you have or can get, and who the target market is. (Or how to create that market) Then formulate a plan to reach that market in a way they respond by either buying your product or acting on something you want them to act on. Doc asked the question " Who are you wanting to attract " --- how could they establish that when they did not even know why they assembled together. g

What did they have instead? What would they need to do at once to do better behavior? >And they had no leader capable of pinpointing priorities > and establishing focus of all energies in the same direction towards > the accomplishement of something --- or being more succinct, " getting > shit done " after first agreeing what the shit was. Yep. I saw 7 people sitting around a table all giving their opinions on why it was like it was, from an away from viewpoint. And, when I asked a proactive question, their minds all around the table went blank. > Once you know what the goal is, you need to know what resources you > have or can get, Okay. So, they dumbed down Masonic rituals. Why did they assume that would attrach newbees, or as they stated, " worker bees " ? > Doc asked the question " Who are you wanting to attract " --- how > could they establish that when they did not even know why they > assembled together. Good point. What could they do instead? > g >
Guest guest
Well, the 'workerbee' comment is interesting (aside from the masonic hive and bee reference) Maybe they're just not very serious. Maybe they want some time away from the wife and kids - a 'fraternal' get-together. Maybe they want someone else to do the work...? What for, since they are NOT proactive? > Maybe they're just not very serious. Much too serious, that it's pathetic. > Maybe they want some time away from the wife and kids - a 'fraternal' get-together. Don't we all;-) > Maybe they want someone else to do the work...? Of course, but then again, what work specifically? Who specifically? For whom specifically? They don't know. All away froms. Interesting. ps. Will I go back? If I did go back, why would I? > Helen
