Transcribing your one-on-one

I wish I could hear mine well enough to do that. I am still working to

get it cleaned up enough to hear even most of it. Doc does mumble a

bit plus there is background noise in addition to very low volume. I

have a lot of trouble hearing things clearly when there are background

sounds competing with the voices.

##Hi Mary!

Oh I hear ya! He giggles alot in mine...

.....Yes, I'm just kidding :-)

Next time I WILL remember to bring my own tape recorder. Hopefully the

tape recording will be better quality and I can hear it.

Mary

## The unit I had here at home was completely useless so I had to wait until

I got off the farm and into town, which was only just this past

weekend...Picked up a cool little Sony thingy that records & plays

tapes(which I apparently need for my CHt in June anyway) and has all kinds

of other little features I'll never figure out how to use, and I spent ALL

DAY yesterday going over & over & over trying to discern our conversation...

I went through two sets of batteries and only got 45 mins. into it...BUT,

as I typed the words, and then watched them turn into GOLD on the page,(22

pages so far) I felt REALLY GOOD about taking the time I need to get all of

Dr. J.M. LaT's string of pearls down on paper....

It just doesn't get any yummier....

I plan to finish session 1 today and while still hot on the trail, get

started on session 2....And yes, like you, the next time I am lucky enough

to have a one on one with Doc, I intend to bring my fully functionning unit

with me....and maybe slap the lapel mike onto him too...

Sincerely,

Aileen W. Donovan

Aileen,

Download soundvoice recorder and you can convert the tape to MP3. It is only $15. You only need to have an earphone jack on the recorder plus a cable to connect from the earphone jack to the line-in jack on your sound card. I was able to play with different file types and did improve the quality a bit.

Radio Shack has the cable needed and Canada may have a similar store or get one when you are here in June.

I can still hear only about 50% of the words cause I speak pretty softly, too. Maybe 50% will be useful. I guess I will find out. Love Doc's laugh. That is loud enough to hear.

I started to transcribe it last night and got a literal pain in my neck. All 8-10 lines even. I was wishing I had a dictation machine with a foot control. I used to use one at work a long time ago.

Take care.

Mary
