I have this tremendous energy in my hands and now as a result of

intensifying my meditation practice, now starting in my feet. Wondering

what to do with it?

Hi Jen,

Welcome to the group.

I am curious..

Why did you meditate? For what reason?

And what prompted you to intensify your meditation practice?

Warmly,

Wilson

Hi Wilson!

Thank you for the welcome. I am glad to have joined this group. :)

I have been attending an 11th Step (recovery) meditation group for

the past three years but have not made it a daily practice until

about 6 months ago. I hit a real emotionally low spot in my life and

decided to practice on a daily basis (sometimes twice a day)to see if

that would help lift me out of the black sticky emotional mess I was

in. It worked beautifully! I am intriqued by the results on a

physical, emotional and spiritual plane that I have received from

daily practice.

Jen,

It sounds like to me that you need to ground yourself. I am also

curious, like Wilson, on the reasons for meditation. Was this a chakra

meditation? If so, then it sounds like that your feet and hands were

being targeted. But beware, I feel that it may be unbalancing your

chakras if that is the case.

Just my opinion,

Rick

Hi Jen,

Appreciate your reply.

You are now practicing daily what you learned, and I laud you for that. Follow through is key to honing a skill acquired. Doc always emphasizes that to really acquire a skill, we have to do the damn drills/exercises.

Now, tell me. What made you decide to attend the meditation group three years ago? What was your intention? Did you have any specific goal or outcome for learning the 11th Step (recovery) meditation?

You said that meditating daily, sometimes twice a day, helped lift you out of the black sticky emotional mess you were in. Isn't that cool? I am wondering, you mentioned 'results on a physical, emotional and spiritual plane.' Can you elaborate on the results? What did you feel? Did you visualize anything during the meditation? How did it lift you out of the mess? What kind of difference did the meditation made?

Best,

Wilson

Hi,

I would hazard a guess that the 11th Step meditation would have

something to do with the 11th Step of Recovery:

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious

contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of

His will for us and the power to carry that out.

This works quite well if you've done the previous 10 steps.

It also helps if you break through the generalizations and

nominalizations involved in the definitions of " Prayer " and

" Meditation " and begin to study, model and understand what they really

are.

Then, too, I personally have a problem with that male pronoun

attempting to describe " God " . But, that's my understanding.

All the best,

-Mark

P.S. In the archives of this group, and in the files section, there

are clues to studying, modeling and understanding " Definitions " .

That is correct, it is the 11th Step of Recovery. And indeed I have

done the previous 10 Steps numerous times. I have been in recovery now

for 14 years. :)

I too have a broader concept of " God " than the limiting male reference.

When referring to it i choose to call it Universe or The Power of the

Presence, but that is just my way to trying to describe the

undescribable.

I sure can! I have noticed a hightening of my senses, for instance;

I've noticed my sense of smell is much keener and I can see lights

and colors around folks much clearer now. I have always been able to

see them so never thought much of it. I guess what has made me sit

up and take notice is that the intensity is higher now and I get

really strong impressions from people. I have never seriously

explored this so I have no idea of the validity of the impressions.

The only type of visualizing that I have been doing is watching the

flow of Energy into my body and practicing moving it around and

feeling it. Basically at this point I am just exploring and

discovering the sensations that I can feel as I am working with it. I

only do this on myself, as I am just beginning to get acquainted with

it. Exploring this Energy is addicting! The more I touch or feel it

the more I want to, if that makes any sense. :)

As far as how it lifted me out of the mess.... I have no idea, I just

know that I started to feel better, almost lighter as I continued to

practice meditation. It did not happen over night. I started

feeling significantly better within a week or so. I made a

committment to practice daily meditation, no matter what. I get up

an hour earlier than normal just so I have plenty of time to both sit

and meditate and do some moving meditation. Oh and one more thing...

I eliminated sugar out of my diet.

I am going to be bold here and very honest with you all. I am kind

of surprised at my reactions to everyone's questions. At first I did

not want to answer any of them, I just wanted to be vague or not

answer at all. I have always kept these types of things to myself out

of fear of ridicule or rejection. I post the responses here with a

little trepidation because I know that I am opening myself up and

that is frightening to say the least. :)
