Hip replacement??

Aloha,

There is a book by Dr. Egosque which will give you both exercises and mental fortification about your hip. I've had doctors and their educated patients insist that replacement surgery was the only way to deal with hip pains. The Doctor's book, and I'm sorry I can't remember title, etc., shows exercises that will make the surgery (which has a very low success rate) unnecessary. Sadly, the surgery will result in the need for more surgery after so many years, which is what keeps the doctors in fancy cars. I've had to work on stretching Adductor muscles after groin pain: we need more stretching.

I'm reticent to add to our doc's suggestions, because he's so right-on, but sometimes a little repetition helps. I'm also looking into Dr. Atkins for dietary info. Something about the sugar/carbohydrate addiction lifestyle that I'm working on changing. The essence here, is that consuming more healthy fats (and reducing carbohydrates:empty calories) will help us to lose weight and satisfy hunger. Avoid Trans-fats as they're clogging the arteries.

The Donna Eden stuff is great. I got the DVD on ebay, keep the book handy, and also understand that You Tube has more short videos of hers. Again, thanks Doc for all of your fantastic information. I'm usually lurking and sometimes way behind on reading the emails.

Stay well. Lillian in HI

What to do instead of a hip replacement.

Hi Dennis,Here are a few quickies that have helped others with similar hip problems and have literally gotten them out of the position of needing any joint replacement. The good news is I've shared these concepts with many of my personal clients, both in the martial arts field and in the healing field, and "if they did the damn drills" they got great results.1. The first one you already know about. Get rid of the WEIGHT! If you are six feet tall you should weight about 180 maximum. I do know that I did balloon up to 247 back in the late 80's and I started having problems with knees, back and left hip. I got my weight down to 200 and I was young again.2. To strengthen that hip isometrics do work well. I tore out my left hip and I was told by my knee surgeon that I would need a hip replacement. I went to my "Energy Medicine" trainer (Donna Eden) and she mentioned that simple isometrics would fix the problem. I did doubt her, but since I'd trained with her for 10 years I did what she said. The problem disappeared in around 1 week's time. Here's the drill she gave. Stand in a doorway, and put one hand to each side, to use the door jam to stabilize the balance. Then place the side of the left foot to the bottom of the door jam and push for the count of 10. Then move the balance foot 6 inches to your right, and repeat the 10 second isometric drill with the left foot. Again move the right balancing foot 6 more inches to the right. Again repeat the 10 second isometric drill with the left foot. Doing the drill that way will give you a stretch as you gain hip strength and condition that joint in an easy controllable manner. Be sure and do BOTH hips so there is no imbalance between them as far as strength, conditioning and flexibility goes.3. Now on to a tiny bit of nutrition. I tend not to get too much into it because most people (me included) won't do what the experts say. So I'm going to keep it simple.Take vitamin C three times a day. It is needed for the synthesis of collagen. Without enough C, under the aging process (and your excessive weight) the joints can literally fall apart. They can fail, because without the C you can no longer keep the joints strong. Collagen is the connective tissue that holds our bodies together. Proper vitamins can extend you active martial arts life by 15 to 20 years, and extend your total life span 20-25 years. The way I take C is in a powdered form, with the C dissolved in warm water, and then I take two bottles of water and dissolve 1,000 mg in each. I take the first dosage immediately upon arising in the morning. I put it in warm water because warm water will help the assimilation of the C, and the warm water will also cause you to evacuate the drosses out of your system rapidly.Because C is water soluble it will NOT remain in your system over 3-4 hours. That's what the other two bottles are for. To sip throughout the day until evening time. That way you will have collagen support (and also brain support and artery support) 24 hours a day.You should notice within 2-3 days a warm relaxed feeling all over your body and especially in your joints. Almost everyone does.4. I'm been studying alternative healing methods for more than 30 years. One method that was written up by Dr. William McGarey, MD was the olive oil therapy. That's where you take one tablespoon of olive oil daily. Those that do that have noticed that arthritic joint pain totally disappears within one to two weeks.5. For a massage, a peanut oil massage (for 10 minutes) somehow penetrates the area to the joint and not only seems to lubricate but heals as well.6. I do not know if you believe in Traditional , or the current Energy Medicine, but doing some of their energy drills have really helped people that have any problems below the belly. The two drills that seem to be the best are "The Belt Line Flow" drill, and "Connecting Between Heaven and Earth". They also help to connect the line of Chakras going vertically up the body. They also help connect the energy flow of the 12 Meridians that run through-out the body front and back and 2 Energy Vessels. These drills can be found in a $16 book at Barnes & Noble, "Energy Medicine" by Donna Eden and David Feinstein. Both are very good and smart people. I do suggest you get that book on amazon (probably a used copy for $5 bucks) and study then practice those two drills. There is much more I could go over, but this is enough to start with.Nice talking with you today over the telephone.

Hi Lillian,

Thank you for the post.

I do disagree with anything to do with the Atkins materials. Even Dr.

Atkins died at a fairly early age because of his processes.

I do like the Nathan Pritican methods, on the most part. Especially

the diet and the exercise. I do disagree with him on the " no vitamins

are necessary " , but I do know where he was coming from.

Many companies sell vitamins with a sales pitch that has nothing to

do with the reality or health of the ones that take them.

Because most people are too damn lazy to read, study and research on

their own what is needed and what is not needed, they guess, or buy

according to advertising copy.

The Eden materials are great, especially the energy testing for self

on the vitamins.

Sincerely,
