Guest guest
There is a whole document on grounding techniques at the Energy Medicine Handout Bank: GROUNDING TECHNIQUES C 2005 Donna Eden & David Feinstein, Ph.D. http://www.energymed.org/hbank/handouts/grounding_techniques.htm My favorites are spooning the feet and massaging my gaits and K1. Actually, I love any foot massage There are also some stones that help with grounding like hematite - I have friends that wear them for that purpose. Guest guest
There’s always hematite. Also many flower essences can not only help with grounding, but help clear what is keeping someone from successfully “touching the earth”. There’s the method Ellen taught opening the bottom of the feet at the instep. I don’t have my notes handy to describe it. She called it sonar something. Many qigong moves focus on grounding, and an excellent book on the topic is Mantak Chia’s Iron Shirt Chi Kung I. Just visualizing roots extending down through the perineum and the bottoms of the feet deep into the earth is helpful. Hugging a tree, and circulating the energy between oneself and the tree. Checking the bladder, gall bladder and stomach meridians and their source points – making sure there is no irregular energy in them. Grounding is sometimes difficult if most of one’s energy is in the head. Thus working the belt flow at the neck, doing neck massage, releasing tension in the neck and shoulders, working all the neurolymphatics and the neurovasculars can all be helpful. Thinking of the dan tien – the area 2 fingers below the navel and deep within the body – as the center rather than the head will open the lower chakras and help one connect energetically to the ground. Chakra clearing especially in the lower chakras is often helpful – and at the back as well as the front of the body. There’s more, of course, but that’s a good start. And for those who were at Donna’s recent training, tracing the diamond connections would also be grounding. Guest guest
I love walking barefoot in the grass, not necessarily wet, though. It feels so healing. The stainless steel spoon does usually feel very good. Sometimes even walking barefoot in the house feels good too. There is just something about the feet with no shoes or socks that feels so freeing. My 2 Kahuna Energy Disks are rarely out of my pockets. Once I thought I had lost a disk and I really scoured around to find it. I have some rocks from years ago when I studied with a Peruvian shaman. They are my friends and my feet love it when I rub one of them across the bottoms including the K1 area. There is a salt water beach near me and occasionally I will splash in the quiet waves of the bay. Guest guest
1) Creating a grounding vortex, and stepping into it. 2) While laying down, have a helper create a vortex off your feet. (see Donna Eden's Energy Medicine for Women DVD) 3) I've been experimenting with running (jogging really) with my eyes closed, so I can feel what happens to my energy as I lift off, and then reconnect to the ground.... 4) Also, pulling your energy down the side of your body, down your legs and off your feet. (great for fire types, who tend to flare out the tops of their heads..) 5) SPIN glass crystals or magnets off your toes. 6) Hold spleen and kidney sedating points. 7)Back up against a strong powerful tree. Mentally connect your roots to its roots. 8) After spooning and spreading the gaits, don't forget to spread around your ankles. Lots of kidney, spleen and liver points, and energy gets congested in the ankles, too. Advanced: weave kidney and liver energy. I don't really understand the drill yet, but Sandy Wand did it, and it was super powerful. Guest guest
Two more: 1) Hook up: navel to power point (the hollow where you head meets the back of your neck)Breathe 2) Stand with soft knees (balanced position) and place one hand across your abdomen, and the other hand across your sacrum (lower back opposite your abdomen) Breathe deeply and center. Pulse the energy between your hands. Breathe. Helen On Jul 28, 2008, at 4:57 PM, docspeed2001 wrote: >> >> Hi John ;=) >> >> In the class the instructor said it must be a stainless steel > spoon.. Guest guest
Food! Certain foods can be very grounding. A friend was explaining how she was doing several of the energy medicine grounding exercises and they stopped working for her for some reason. She had recently switched to a vegetatian diet and someone suggested that she increase her protein. Beans & rice and cheeses weren't enough though, so she had some eggs and that immediately got her grounded. It needed to be animal protein. Visualizig myself being rooted into the earth with big long roots and being around my horses are two of my favorite and easy ways. Guest guest
Yup - food. That's how I gained about 30 lbs!! (flying around, all stressed out) A shrink I knew years ago, said that's why so many psychics are fat -- need food to ground themselves.... Guest guest
Doc wrote: “I do so dislike his books... ....but I also have them all because of great stuff in them.” For some reason about every 4th message from this list ends up in my junk folder, including some I myself have written J. Doc, have you ever met Mantak Chia? He’s surely one of a kind. I’ve had a fantasy of having Mantak Chia, Kam Yuen, and Tom Tam together on a panel of some sort. All three are very innovative qigong masters who’ve gone on to develop their own approach to healing, have brought pearls of wisdom to large numbers of Westerners, and share in a very open-hearted generous manner. They have all integrated Western anatomy and physiology with their qigong background and teach in a very integrated manner, and I am fortunate to have been able to study with all of them. However, I’m not sure how much tolerance they would have for each other. Each of them is a really unique and individual character. Thanks for your sharing your honest reaction. You point out, albeit indirectly, the importance of separating content from personality --- part of not taking one’s life personally. But it is just as bad for me as was/is his writing. I do know that Dr. Yang talks good about him... ....which I think is the reason I continually force myself to study Mantak's materials. In fact, last week I noticed he has a book out that I didn't have, so I bought it...thumbed through it...noticed what I appreciated and didn't appreciate...then put in on the " study " pile. John M.
