Thank you Rusty. Following is a quote from the new translation of that book. Notice that it is very similar to what we now call the Zero Point Energy Field (a field of intelligence) that has all probabilities in it, both positive and negative. " ...The " essential qi " is the source of the generation and formation of everything. The ancient Chinese philosophers regarded that the source of the cosmos was the essential qi. Everything in the world was produced by the essential qi, namely, original qi. The qi is an invisible materialistic element that forms everything. Of course, the " everything " also encompasses the human beings. Man is endowed with the essential qi from nature, and it is called qi, essential qi, vital qi, or original qi. The concept of qi permeated the medical field. Thus, the idea that everything consists of qi is inevitably shown in The Medical Classic of the Yellow Emperor. The qi is not only the basic material that forms the body, but also the dynamic power of the body. The life's activities of human beings are the manifestations of movements of the qi. Different combinations of the qi may generate different things. So, according to different places and different functioning of the qi, different names of qi are determined, such as true qi, ancestral qi, nutritive qi, defensive qi, liver qi, spleen qi, heart qi, etc... After all, the Tao that can be named is not the real Tao and the map is not the territory. * - But qi flow has some empirical principles that are worth cultivating. Qi cannot be grasped, held nor put in the pocket. One cannot push nor force nor " get " qi. Qi fluidly fills all hollows like water and all open spaces like air but will not go through walls nor clenched passageways. Qi cannot help but flow through you if you are open to it. Flows like water; Floats like cloud....if you let it. A quick way to cultivate qi, IMO, is to be aware, HERE and NOW, with the state of relaxation of your muscles. Sung. rusty * Regarding " the map is not the territory " : Here's an excellent explanation from a modern day Master about how the meanings are often lost in translations. rty - " docspeed2001 " <docspeed2001 Tuesday, July 29, 2008 4:55 PM A first ancient source of original qi... > , " rusty " > <lwinmorgan wrote: >> >> > So now I'm reading about ... >> - >> Helen/Michelle: >> The source for all things " Chi " , is the Yellow Emperor's Classic > of Internal Medicine. >> >> http://www.mentcm.com/translatione.htm >> >> >> rusty > > Hi Group, > > I do not agree with the word " the " in Rusty's above post but by me > substituting the word " a " in it's place I find his source very > interesting and much more easily understood than the oldier copies of > that book I have in my libraries. > > Thank you Rusty. > > Following is a quote from the new translation of that book. > Notice that it is very similar to what we now call the Zero Point > Energy Field (a field of intelligence) that has all probabilities in > it, both positive and negative. > > " ...The " essential qi " is the source of the generation and formation > of everything.
