Anything for Dry Skin?

Greetings,

I recently joined the group yeah, and firstly let me express my

gratitude for being allowed to joined.

Secondly, i'm currently having a issue with my skin and dryness,

particularly my face. It's a concern because i'm african american and

when my face is ashen and dry, then it's very clear to see. When i

take pictures, i show as very pale.

Another reason why it's a concern to me is because in my profession,

i'm constantly working with people on a face to face basis and despite

my age (26), i hate to admit, but sometimes it's interferes with my

ability to concentrate on the task at hand.

It's been a constant throughout my life, but never really an issue

that bothered until i started work.

Now here's the thing: I exercise frequently, mainly cardio and

calisthenics and yoga. I eat very healthy, much to the amusement of

friends and family. I drink plenty of water, or as much as thirst

dictates and don't really crave sugar, except for the occasional

cookie or ice cream sandwich. I get at least 9 hours of sleep a night,

meaning that i usually go to bed around 10 or 11 and sleep soundly

through the night, except for the occasional bathroom run in the

middle of the night.

I live a pretty stress free life currently, so i don't believe that

stress is the cause. When i say stress free, i mean i live a life

where i don't encounter too many issues that cause me to become

anxious or upset. Knock On wood:)

I even purchased the energy medicine books you recommended in the

letter we recieve upon joining about a week ago(your mind mastery

group), and i've been using the drills daily now and i have noticed a

difference, mainly that i seem to be accomplishing more work with

little effort, if that makes sense.

Another issue that i'm currently having is that i seem to be

developing dry patches in my scalp, which concerns me for reasons that

i've mentioned above, mainly that i eat healthy and exercise regularly.

One contributing factor that i feel may be an issue is that i love

being out in the sun and i don't wear sunblock, so i take full

responsibility for that.

My question is this: is there anything i can add to my current regimen

to get rid of the patches in my head and the dry skin on my face?

Cheers,

Thomas

You write that you eat very healthy. What do you mean by that? Many

believe that fat in general is unhealthy, for ex. saturated fat. Are

you one of them who´s scared of fat? What about meat?

Anyhow my rec. at this moment is some 3 tbl spoons with Extra-Virgin

Coconut Oil / daily. Something like from this link below:

I put a little of the same extra virgin coconut oil that I use for cooking on my dry cracked heels and it really helped.

Instead of washing with soap, I use Miracle 2 soap and that cleans without drying.

Agree about the coconut oil. It is also very likely that you aren't getting enough

beneficial fat in your diet: essential fatty acids, which you can take in part as supplements.

Ask someone in a health food store if you don't already know about EFAs.

Then, you can have salads with olive oil or flax oil, and cook with olive oil and/or coconut

oil.

I only use unscented, food quality oils on my skin. I prefer jojoba oil as it is not greasy. But if your

skin is really dry, you can use Crisco if you want to . A very dark friend of mine used Crisco

(kept it under the sink in the bathroom--made a few dates really wonder about her). She had

the softest, most beautiful skin ever. Even tone, smooth and silky.

If you are having a problem, I'd avoid scents. Of course, there's always a small chance

there is some other condition underlying the ashy tendencies. If you haven't improved in

a couple months, write again.

Thomas,

I have found Nutiva oil to be only of medium quality. Tropical

Traditions Green Label is a better oil. And it might pay to start off

with 1 TBS until you find out how it affects your bowels. Then increase

as you find good results. Coconut oil is solid at about 77 degrees F and

liquifies above that.

Coconut oil is also used on the skin as a moisturizer. Nutiva might work

OK for that. Try it at night when a shiny face won't interfere with your

life. A light coating in the morning that you rub in, then gently towel

off, could make a difference, too.

You are probably better off staying away from most sunscreens. They

could contain stuff you really would not want to be putting on your

skin. Check out mercola.com for more info on sun screens. He might

actually have a recommendation of a brand that is good.

A hat with a large brim could assist as well. I read that straw hats

allow in almost all the sun so cloth might be better.

Hi, Thomas. Welcome to the group.

This one may sound odd at first, but check out EFT if you haven't

already (www.emofree.com). Skin issues are often related to

unresolved emotional issues. Perhaps in meditation, ask your skin why

it's so dry and ashen, then tap on whatever issues are revealed.

Loise Hay relates dry skin to a feeling of being unsafe or not

trusting life

More mundanely, do you know if you're hyper-sensitive to anything,

including sun exposure? If you burn super-easily, that could help

explain the dry ashen skin. Other physical causes include

hypothyroidism, medicines/drugs/alcohol, low fat diets and dehydration.

If it's not sensitivity to sun or meds, etc., you may try a buffing

pad in the shower, then apply an oil-based lotion while your skin is

still moist from the shower. Oil based lotions will hold moisture in

or keep it out, so the skin should be well hydrated when you apply it

so it will help seal the moisture in.

If you apply an oil based lotion over dry skin, it can keep the skin

from taking on moisture from the air, potentially adding to but at

least not helping dryness. A separate water based moisturizer after

the shower followed by an oil based lotion to seal it in may prove the

most effective.

Sunscreens have never felt healthy on my skin, so I don't use them.

The sun exposure will do more to help your skin than to harm it

(recent studies have been saying the same thing).

Hope these help. - Alan

Sounds like you might have an imbalance in the metal element –

lung and large intestine. The extension of metal element is skin, and this is

metal’s time of year. Read about alarm points to learn how to test the alarm

points for those two organs. Look on the neurolymphatics chart and massage the

reflex points for lung and large intestine. You could try flushing both lung

and large intestine (look it up in the index). Also, besides the morning

routine, tracing all the meridians will also help bring things into balance and

ought to make a difference.

Agree with all these great comments. The first thing you do is exfoliate --which means you get rid of the dead skin that is showing as grey. You can use African black soap or a good cleanser (I love Taut cleanser, you can brush your teeth with it, get it in your eyes, it's really gentle.)  Get a buff puff at the drug store -- usually in the acne/skin area. Use it to wash your face, gets all the dead skin off.  Don't rub too hard, but use a circular motion. If you don't exfoliate and get rid of the dead skin, whatever you put on your skin will not really help so much.THENGet some RAW organic African shea butter. I buy it in 5 pound blocks now, I use so much of it. LOVE IT.  But, it has to be organic and unprocessed. Run your hands under very warm water, put a lump of shea butter in your hands, and rub together. You use the heat of the water and your hands to emulsify the butter, and massage the water and shea butter into your skin. It's really great stuff. Smells like coco butter, but works better. What's especially good about the shea butter, is that it isn't so oily -- and if you use it with the warm water (which hydrates your skin) -- you don't have that oily feeling.Great stuff. I only use raw  shea butter now, and my skin looks pretty good! All the cosmetic companies put shea butter in everything -- but it isn't healing unless it's unprocessed and raw. Thanks you everyone for your advice. Much obliged.I'll respond to all your replies with this one message.I'm going out today to buy the extra virgin coconut oil.I'll study Mrs. Eden books more closely and do as suggested as per the advice on the meridians. Fascinating stuff, this energy medicine. It requires a bit of study on my part to really comprehend what she's saying, particularly the bit about "energy testing". Is he saying that i can determine what substances my body would reject/accept have difficulty with by merely placing it against my own body?Fancy that... Definately requires much in depth study on my part.Brilliant, when think about it.Cheers,Thomas--- On Tue, 23/9/08, Judith Poole <judith.poole wrote:Judith Poole <judith.pooleRE: Anything for Dry Skin?
