Guest guest
Hi:) I am interested in the Doc's speed hitting material, and also the pressure points materials. I am looking for a good self defense system that would allow me to be safe and win anyone but without causing them bodily harm. What kind of products or materials are there that I can learn? I would really appreciate it if you could get back to me on this, Doc. Thank you:)

I am not Doc, so this is an unsolicited answer. In my opinion, after having studied martial arts for a fair number of years, being able to 'win against anyone but without causing them bodily harm' is a very lofty goal. For many masters, the road to becoming able to win without hurting the opponent is gained AFTER they have solid ability TO hurt the opponent. Having this physical base gave them something to fall back on when looking for more pacifistic methods of self defense. I am speaking about the context of a life-threatening physical altercation, of course. If we expand the definition and context, we can also look at the perception of potentially dangerous situations, the avoidance of combat, the creation of desired perceptions in the mind of the opponent. We can talk about the generation of a 'don't fXXX with me' atmosphere or aura that dissuades people from opposing you. These can be considered methods of winning without causing bodily harm. There are also the methods that you might use to deflect and defuse your drunken and belligerent uncle at family gatherings. These include behavioural and combative strategies and techniques. I firmly believe in having a well-rounded self defense package, which contains all of the above. I believe that having only the ability to hurt people is a start, but it's not complete. I think that having the ability to sense and avoid danger is also good, but incomplete in itself. Defusing dangerous situations is good, as is 'tying up' the drunken uncle. IMO, you ought to have all of these options in a good self defense system. How far you take this depends on your motivation and interest. You could be looking for ways to avoid and get out of mugging situations, or you might want the whole 'wind of death' package. It's up to you. I figure that Doc will have more and different things to say about this topic! Elroy
