Guest guest
> > think the one thing everybody responding to this post is forgetting > is that " reiki " is a japanese word that means universal energy. The > chinese have a similar description of the same thing called " wu > chi " (origina energy). That is what Hawayo Takata said Reiki meant and that is correct. It is also a simplification. I don't think I've ever posted the excerpt below to this group before because this is afterall a crystal healing group rather than a Reiki group *To give a an example of the depth of meaning possible in one word I will use this example from and old translation of a Buddhist Sutra of the word Reiki which has been defined simply as Spiritual or Universal Life force or energy. the Reiki referred to in this excerpt would primarily be that of a Buddha* *I was looking for something about Karma in a old book of lectures on the Hokekyo (Lotus Sutra ) a translation of some Buddhist lectures from the early thirties by Tsunasaburo Makaguchi and I stumbled across this,* * " Reiki " (Spiritual power) is divided into 10* *1. the power to tell the reasonable law of cause and effect from an unreasonable one neglecting the causal law.* *2. the power to know the causal relationships ranging over the three existence's of life- past present and future.* *3. the power to keep himself in the state of enlightenment* *4. the power to realize the various functions of mind.* *5. The article was from a book of lectures on Buddhism. Mikao Usui seems to have intended Reiki as an Enlightenment system. This is from the Tien tai and Nicheren schools of Buddhism. The Spiritual power (Reiki) of the Buddha would include and encompass all these factors and abilities. Yes, a principle precept of Buddhism is that we can all become enlightened. In a sense the list below is a kind of Buddha checklist. An enlightened being has these abilities at all times.
