Guest guest
I just bought a string of rainbow freshwater pearls.... normally I cleanse new stones in salt-water.... but I'm going to cleanse the pearls by smudging and sunlight.... since I heard that pearls will dissolve in water ! So my question is WHY would pearls dissolve in water if they come from the ocean ?! Also, I'd like some feedback on other members experiences with pearls. Thanks, Indigo
Guest guest
I've never heard of pearls dissolving in water before but I do know that they are very delicate beings, very sensitive to chemical damage. That's why you shouldn't put perfume onto yourself where the pearls will be in contact. Also pearls will discolour if stored in boxes with heavily dyed linings (especially red). I assume that it is due to the porous nature of the nacre - the substance pearls are made of, and whilst they may not actually dissolve in water, the water may not do them any good if they are left sitting in it. I vaguely remember something about pearls being sensitive to light exposure and heat, but I am not sure why. What does come to mind with them is empowering them in moonlight and that cleansing them with energy might be more preferable than with an actual substance. Ask the pearls what they want done. Good luck, Fi
