Guest guest
Hi all, It's been a while since I posted, but I still read regularly! I have acquired some stones that I am unsure of. If anyone has any clues, I would sure appreciate it! I'll list them by number and give any specifics that I may have noticed These are in the photo section, under Chris K. I got these in one shipment and was only told that they are from India.....now, whether that is true or not is questionable <G> Thanks for any help.......as I am not comfortable selling stone folks that I can't identify! 1. This one has a very noticable pink hue to it, tho the crystal formations appear to be the same on several. 2. This one is more towards white, with an almost mica-ish sheen. 3. This one is totally different than the others. I've not a clue on this one. 4.a. I took 2 pics of this one because there appears to be 2 different kinds of minerals. The top part is full of itty bitty crystals, while the bottom (4b) has that same shimmer as the others, but they don't appear to be formed the same. 5.WOW! The rest of these are more of a light green. This one has numerous pure square crystals. 6. This is a wild one! These " blobs " are a little greener than the crystals. Under a magnifier, they almost look fuzzy. 7. Another light green one with the same perfect square crystal formations. 8. This looks like an overgrown version of the " blobs " that were on #6. It is almost a perfect half circle. 9. Another light green with blobs that are the same color. I see some crystal formations underneath the blobs, but none like the squared ones. 10. Still in the light green area, but this one has the square block type crystals, with no base...just all crystal. 11 & 12 These are freeform cabs......I am guessing they are in the Jasper family, tho one of them sure reminds me of Turitella Agate, except for the colors. That is it guys! LOLOL I don't ask for much do I? I hope that some of you might find this a challenge! Thanks for the help! Chris Kelly www.Scentsappeal.net Not your average candle store! Guest guest
Chris- > It's been a while since I posted, but I still read regularly! I have acquired some stones that I am unsure of. > I hope I can offer a few things that may be useful in determining who's who. 1. It is hard for me to see crystal structure from the photos, but I'm nearly certain it's Heulandite based on the shape I can see. 2. 3. Definitely Apophyllite, specifically Fluorapophyllite, I believe. 4. Fluorapophyllite and Stilbite it looks like, poss. Heulandite but more like Stilbite. 5. Likely Apophyllite, but possibly a Prehnite pseudomorph after Laumonite. Other photos could help us tell for sure. 6. The brownish crystals are Gyrolite. Those that appear fuzzy are Okenite. They're sitting on a base that appears to be Calcite, but hard to say from the photo. 7. Still leaning more toward the Fluorapophyllite here. 8. Another beautiful Gyrolite 9. This one is hard to say. Not enough detail for me to make out the crystal structure. Possibly Gyrolites again, as they can appear in a number of colors. Could also be Prehnite. 10. These look like Fluorapophyllite again. 11. The one on the left is definitely a Leopardskin Jasper (Rhyolite). The one on the left appears to be Jasper as well, though I'm unsure the type. 12. The one on the left appears to be a Jasper with some Quartz areas. The other two could be Jaspers, but could also be Rhyolites. Hard to say from the photos. It appears that most of these are Indian Zeolites, likely from the Poona area. I hope this helps in some way. Guest guest
Chris- > 2. Oops! I forgot the above. I meant to come back to it but forgot. It's hard to say from the photos as I can't get a clear sense of the crystals. Possibly Calcite but the luster doesn't seem quite right. Perhaps a better picture from another angle may be helpful.
