Guest guest
Hi, I have been a silent member for a little while as I am a total newbie to crystals but wanting to learn. My mom suffers from insomnia and some nights she tries so many things trying to get to sleep and finally has to take a pill which she hates, just to get some sleep. So I wondered if there was a crystal that she could get that would help her to have a peaceful sleep, she is 80 and getting a good night sleep every night would be a godsend and give her the energy to get through her days without feeling drab. Thanks for any info. Charlotte

Guest guest
My mom suffers from insomnia and some nights Hi, Charlotte - Re the above, perhaps your mum could try putting a piece of amber under her pillow (which I found incredibly useful for soothing an over-active mind) or amethyst which is known for its calming ability and helping to sleep - although I guess it may vary from person to person. Green chrysoprase is also supposed to be good (I know it's recommended for dreaming). So maybe these stones might help. I'd also try a couple of drops of lavender essential oil on her pillow, as Edda suggests, but make sure it's good quality therapeutic oil and not a cheap variety which is chemical and so does more harm than good. Also, if she's stressed about getting to sleep, a couple of drops of marjoram on her pillow might help, as this dulls anxiety. You can use it for about a week and then leave off, otherwise it desensitises you too much. Also, be careful about using essential oils directly on the skin, especially if she's older and may have sensitive skin. Lavender is usually okay, but just check, better on the pillow. Also valerian tea (hold your nose while you drink this!) or chamomile tea before bed might help too. Love and hugs, Mo.
