Guest guest
You can tell from the email address that the porn spammer isn't a " real " r, i.e., interested in crystals. When I see an address comprised of random letters and numbers, I know it's a spammer of some sort. ===== ********************************************************* KNOW THYSELF. -->> Starry Night Astrology's Premium Astrological Reports. Guest guest
I tried to go and unsub and ban the people who have sent this but they do not seem to actually be on the members list so I am not sure how to get rid of them only members are supposed to be able to post and of course porn links are not allowed Peggy

It happens on most groups, and the only real solution is to moderate all posts that pass through a group. This is practically impossible to do due to the volume of mail. Your workshop leader gives her time and energy freely to share her knowledge with this group, and we can't therefore expect her to check out and read every mail that comes in. This sort of thing is rare, and has happened only this once in the year plus that this excellent crystal list has been running. crystal blessings Karen
Guest guest
They join just long enough to send the spam, then unsub. --- rosequartz <rosequartz wrote: > I tried to go and unsub and ban the people who have sent this > but they > do not seem to actually be on the members list so I am not > sure how to > get rid of them > only members are supposed to be able to post and of course ===== ********************************************************* KNOW THYSELF. -->> Starry Night Astrology's Premium Astrological Reports. Guest guest
Thanks The person joined twice under different e-mails and then apparently unsubbed as soon as they had posted the spam each time . As Karen noted this has only happened once in the year the group has existed . I could place new members on moderation but that would delay posts and also further reduce the time I have to write and do other work ..unless this continues to be a problem I don't think it is worth it. It is not possible for me to be online constantly so I did not see these posts for several hours after they were sent. I am sorry that several members have chosen to quit the group because of the offensive spam. Guest guest
:::::;clapping:::::: Karen, sooooooo true! and actually with the volume of mail that does come through many , I'm surprised that this really isn't a bigger problem that it is. One message a year is pretty good average, despite the nature of the ah 'message.' Sadly, porn messages are all over the web for one reason or another-- some of the reasons of course I reallllly don't want to know about-- but they are there. It is a fact of life that should one chooose to surf the net and belong to groups that inevitably one will come into contact with this stuff. It doesn't mean we have to participate in it, just ignore it and move on. Porn on the net happens. It also has nothing to do with Peggy and her group and anyone that is that immediately offended by something slipping through, well, I guess I'd have to say that they may really find out that this really is a very safe place. Now for the real reason I wrote this--Peggy I've really enjoyed your posts even if I don't always post to the group myself. I really feel you need to write a book so I can use it as a reference. Let me know when I can get a signed copy!! just my 2 copper nuggets..... Guest guest
I hear you on the porn spam.....I block as much as I can...but then the spammers just use a different addy. Most of the time I just delete. I get so tired of " reading " about increasing the size of my penis or using viagra.......if they only knew they are sending that information to a little old senior lady who has " almost " forgotten what a penis looks like. LOL Hope changing you e-mail address helps. Pat H. It takes courage to grow up and turn out to be who you really are. e.e.cummings

Guest guest
Hi there My suggestion would be to change your e-mail addy and then don't use it anywhere but where you are sure it's safe. If you have all your mails from your swamped addy, don't change your account just use message rules to move them into a seperate folder in your intray. I use the address at the bottom of every message as the filter in the rule using the 'in the message body' bit in the rules. Then when all your mails come in from your old addy there shouldn't be anything that you want and you can permanently delete them in bulk, simply scanning the subject headings for anything that has slipped through the net. I have over 120 junk mails on my old addy and I use rules to sift out the ones I want (not junk that is, the ones) and then just ditch the rest. I never read the junk mails justy in case there is a virus attached. If i have missed something important they will send it again. I keep the old addy in use as I use it for if I buy anything over the internet, it's giving your addy to places like these that gets you on the junk mail lists. The if anyone like amazon sends me a confirmaton I keep my eye out for it so that it isn't ditched. My new addy, touch wood, is completely junk free and has been for over a year now. Hope this helps BB Heather > I hear you on the porn spam.....I block as much as I can...but then the spammers just use a different addy. Most of the time I just delete.
