Difference between Herkimer Diamonds and Double terminated crystals

Merry Meet all,

I'm new and I'm going to ask what may be a stupid question for some

but here goes. I bought a large double terminated quartz crystal

(4 " x2.5 " ) last year at a local gem show. I paid about $20 for

it ,which I thought was very fair. At the time the price wasn't an

option because I knew

it had pretty much choosen me. It had all but literally

screamed, " Take me home with you! "

I cleansed it and bathed it. And charged it with loving energy and

placed it in a bed of roses in a leather bag until it was time to

change the rose petals.

Well this year I went to the gem show and I bought ten small herkimer

diamonds. And one of the ten were connected together. Does this one

have a more (or different) significant meaning than the others? And

what are the differences between a double terminated quartz crystal

and the herkimers?

To be truly Herkimer Diamonds they have to come from that specific

area of Herkiner, New York. They are usually rather small and water

clear with occaisional black inclusions, anthraxinolate, sp? My own

use of them has been as a third eye enhancer along with moldavite.

 

Other areas do produce similar double terminated stones which folks

have started to call Herkimers as well. I recently received one from

Mexico the size of a pigeon's egg that has all kinds of rainbows like

a spaceship of light.

 

Maybe your double crystal would be for working with couple energy or

mother and child?
