Guest guest
Article link - http://www.grinningplanet.com/email/04/100-eco.htm ... There is lots debate on the safety of plastics/PVC/polymer (they are all various types of plastics) for food and water. Plastics are not inert materials like glass. Over time they leach harmful chemicals like dioxins into the solvent contained in the container. The extent of leaching is a function (indirectly related to viscosity and directly related to temperature) of viscosity of the solvent and temperature. Even if the written label states microwave safe, it is no guarantee that the chemicals will not be leached by the contained food. Do not microwave solids and liquids in plastic containers. Do not store hot food in plastic containers. However the amount of chemicals leached into the food is too small to get alarmed about for occasional usage. Do not use plastic containers always. Occasionally, yes; always no. For more information read the above URL, which errs on the safe side. Love Rajinder Sandhir
