Guest guest
Perhaps the foods traditional to the Thanksgiving feast have outlived their practical value . many courses of heavy dense hearty food are not really suitable for today's life. We no longer need constantly fear famine. We no longer work from dawn to dusk at hard labor. Most of us have heat, homes, warm clothing and plenty of food all year long . We have small families and most of us will see all of our children grow to adulthood . We have regular weekends off and vacation time . Not all of us have relatives we want to spend large amounts of time with and usually we don't have to live within a clan, or extended family setting in order to survive. Thanksgiving may for some be burdened with religious residue or memories of oppression of others and or of ourselves. However stuffy or stodgy or whatever the excesses of the holiday we do have people , places things to thank and be thankful for . What remains valid and valuable when all the formalities and traditions old and new are set aside is Thanks . Appreciation , gratefulness is always appropriate . Whatever faith, path, religion, tradition etc. you do or do not practice or follow , Thankfulness is a key to personal happiness Making every day a day of thanksgiving greeting the sun and the moon and all that surrounds us with gratitude and appreciation . Appreciating ourselves too, giving ourselves love and respect as well as nature and all that surrounds us in totality . That is far more important and valuable than the celebrations of a particular official holiday . I do wish you the happiest of Holidays and Thank You for everything .
