paraphrase: Enlightenment has deepening stages that most people are

unaware of, and willfully so, due to ignorance and not wanting to be

judged. People like egality, when trying to be a part of something,

and exclusion, when trying to be on top of something.

We only know what we know, and we can't know what we don't know.

We all tend to view the world through what we know. So let's engage

empathy muscles. It's hard to have a mind open to what we don't know,

because what we don't know is mostly useless garbage.

And I hear the loneliness. Look on the Kundalini forums, and every

one is an expert because they have strong body sensations, or because

they studied old words from those that had strong sensations and

visions. A wide knowledge that includes study and experience, where

experience gets to the deeper experiences that a community of peers

pointed to, is rare.

I tried to talk of Apana. Even on all the community groups

related to Kundalini, about the felt force of awakening said to spring

from the union of prana and apana, not one person said they had any

feeling for what I was talking about. Same on the Daoist boards, the

energetic healing boards, and on this board.

Is Apana therefore a way of looking at energy that is too subjective

to be factual? Is the theory of a spark between Prana and Apana a

diversion?

I'm open to any explanation. It is dis-heartening the narrow focus of

us all. Such is our lot.

Apana... I liked the concept because it was fresh and

shakes people a little since it is a confrontation

with something as " taboo " or " disgusting " as

excrement. A mentor of mine mentioned to me several

times that we all still urinate and defecate, etc...

such is our lot. He never used it in a manner of

fable or metaphor..., it was strictly fact is fact and

action = reaction and matter = Earthly Bounds... etc.

It is what it is.

I think the 'drawing down of heaven energy', aka: the

'Apana' concept that you are describing is a matter of

fact way of addressing a metaphysical idea like the

acceptance of maya, or the 'shedding'/'acknowledging

the existence' of unknown egoic layers. It is a

precursor to the trust in self-awareness that

accompanies the onset of establishing a relationship

with wu-wei. It also draws a strong correlation to

the Persian 'Ahrimanic' quality before that concept

was corrupted into YHWH's adversary.

Apana also shows another strong relation I see in

Western archetypes... this might be over the top, but

" Lucifer " . The

" negative/blackness/void/destruction/anabolic " energy

is rarely acknowledged, nevermind ingested and

accepted. When you start discussing the anus and

fecal matter (it sounds funny to even say it), the

audience will always respond with an unconscious

instinctual abhorrence at the topic. Lucifer fits

strongly with this rejection of a reality that can

obviously, and with equal severity, be sworn to exist.

It does not even require swearing... it simply 'is'.

Where is the proper boundary on which to draw lines

about the focus of meditation? excreting waste is

such a continuous fact of life such as breathing, yet

we all typically concentrate our mental and

visualization efforts on " better facts of life " ,

so-to-say.

I must say, the Apana article helped me shuffle a

lot of pre-existing intellectual content into a more

cohesive playing deck. I can't wait until I " shed "

the playing deck and allow the gravity of the

archetypes to guide me without my monotonous

over-analysis.

--I, too, would appreciate feedback about my reaction

to the article and the concepts I haphazardly glued

together in this commentary that fell straight out of

my anus. :-)

(Typical-male, over-the-top humor as a

self-deprecating misdirection of insecure modesty)
