Guest guest
Hi everyone I have a patient who hit a deer on his motorcycle 5 days ago and luckily, got off with mostly road rashes. Some areas, however, are pretty severe down to tendon and bone. He is trying to avoid skin grafting and the PA who is treating him is going along with it. They are debriding the wound, applying topical antibiotics and he is on an oral antibiotic as well as pain killers. Does anyone have any suggestions as to herbal poultices and specifically their preparation and application and internal herbal decoctions? He's about 54 years old and, though I've never treated him, I've advised him and looked at him as he's a friend. He's usually got a fairly red tongue with a thick yellow coat in back. He experiences prostate difficulty for which he takes Saw Palmetto regularly. I always wanted to try Zhi Bai Di Huang Tang and acu for him but he's a " tough guy " and pretty cheap about spending money for treatments. He seems basically Yin xu, very small guy, quite wiry though highly intelligent and probably just from small people. He's had some brushes with squamous cell skin cancer but says his skin heals rather quickly in general. He uses that something-U-Dex stuff on any cancers he suspects which turns his skin purple, then uses aloe vera to heal afterward. So, any suggestions for road rash? Thanks, Shanna
