Guest guest
A question was raised by a friend of mine - a Media Person " Are we trying to retain Democracy? "  The answer is not 'WE' but the Media Mughals and the elites are struggling to retain democracy. What is the use of a Govt and a system which includes law Courts Election Commission and Human Rights Commission etc which is not able to control price rise of essential goods, which allows every incompetent and unqualified person to occupy chairs and positions which are meant in this age of high technology functions only for extremely qualified people. How can a country like India with multi language multi cultural societies have a General Election with no Issues in hand for those who are in the election fray? There is no understanding of the peoples problem even after the suicides committed by close to around two lakh farmers. Govt. and their Officers and employees had their sixth Pay Commission resulting in price rise of every essential items incl School fees to the tune of 55-60%. Keep writing and requesting to a Govt dept or agency for an action no reply is ever forthcoming. Not even under RTI Act you get to know where does your request stand. Go for a debate and you get an answer 'then Go to Court'. After having a Photo Identity Card from Election Commission from the very beginning my name was struck off from the Voters list this time. Six months ago some teachers came and made note of this but could not get my name re-included. I hope one imagines what it takes to get that done. A few days of run around of the election office, abstaing from your work for those days, spending money and fuel to cause addition to high level of pollution already in existence and still no guarantee of getting your name included. In the first place where did it go? With such a machinary of the Govt and the ECI how and why somebody would like to struggle to retain 'Democracy' Under the circumstances, those who have no capacity of inflating their pocket will turn to 'Naxals'. I believe many in the population find such anti socials as the 'Naxals' as their saviour. The inflated no. of Voters for yesterday's elections esp in Jharkhand and Bihar shows how the Media Mughals are trying to retain democracy. A point to note. People today do not make a difference between different candidates, irrespective of their affiliations past and present. 60 years of fooling around has identified anybody and everybody of the aspiring Parliamentarians the same kind of crook, a ruffian of first order. I do not see a parrellel of this democracy which has brought our lives to stand still almost for a month -all Schools closed , Bank and Industrial sector employees put on election duty, long distance travelling almost impossible because no buses plying on these routes, Govt dept becoming non-functional. Slowly but definitely we are leading to a Totalitarian system of governance. Where are the Hon'ble Supreme Court and High Courts who used to frown against a bandh call by pasing stringent of strictures and imposing penalties on the callers? Where is the Human Rights Commission ? Or is it invisible to all of them. This matter should be given a serious thought as to how such a concoted democracy will survive and how long. How long the ruling elites think they can help democracy by seating in Urban habitats and writing and talking in different Media forums about the Great Festival - General Elections in India. A life time earning of an honest individual will not be sufficient even to file nomination not to talk of 'buying' an Election ticket. In my view people have understood it well that it is all fooling around and nothing else. -- " Those who have the privilege to know, have the duty to act.
