Personal Message from SFC Russell Joyce & Fluffy!

Photo by: Karen Parker, September 6th. Hello to all,We are again sending out my Thank you's.We are trying to thank each person who has emailed me in the past and shown support, however this list is quite large! We would like to take this time to let everyone one know what we are doing with our time. We have seen some of the news broadcasts and they only reveal a part of our story. So this letter is to fill in some of the blanks. So hear we go. We send my updates to a wonderful woman who has donated her talents, time and money by sponsoring the Fluffy web site, I find my self-working unreal hours keeping up with these updates and Bonnie is working more than I. If you get the chance go to the contact link at the top of the web page (www.k9fluffy.com) and thank her for being a great American. We would like to thank everyone who made an effort to return this trooper home. As Fluffy & I meet more people I think they see Fluffy as a sweet little dog. Please keep in mind he was a Sentry dog in Iraq. Fluffy was rewarded for keeping the Americans safe by being aggressive. So many want to pet him and touch him but do not realize that I must be careful with how we are greeted as he is very protective over us. It will take some time and patience to de-program him and we are currently working on this program. So many of you have asked to hear the whole story and that is why I am writing the book. There are so many facts that have been missed by the press in the 5 and 10 min. interviews. I think people do not understand how this event came into the public eyes. Our 10 minutes of fame was accidental, never asked for or expected, however it has been a blessing. We have made life long friends and found a cause for my life from these 10 minutes of time. I am in Special Forces and being the Quit Professional is our job., but being resourceful is another trade that you learn in this job. This came into play when it was too late and my name was all over the news. We have taken a negative that fell upon us and turned it into positive, and your actions are the only way to judge whether this worked, by showing that you where truly inspired and by taking 30 minutes out of your life to write and thank soldiers, support the war dog memorial become a reality, assist the search and rescue units all over America and by looking into a rescued animals as pets rather than a purchased animal, and mostly by showing that we are UNITED as a people and as a COUNTRY!The support we have received has been over whelming. It has come from people from many different walks of life. We even had a CAT rescue group calling trying to help! None of you seemed to have any other agenda other than to get this trooper home. My goal was to see that my comrade did not get put down, but rather come to the states and have a chance to enter in to Search and Rescue or police work or some type of service work. Due to your support and the efforts of the Vietnam dog handlers, Search and Rescue and many Pentagon officials I was able to bring Fluffy home. We thank you so much for your hard work. You all spent your time helping us so now it's my turn to help others. I am asking for your help with some of the efforts that we will be supporting.Theses are the goals for the k9fluffy.com website and myself:#1) TASK: raise the 100, 000 dollars for the U. S. War Dog Memorial Memorial in NJ. Please visit Ron Aiello's site at www.uswardogs.org, The United States War Dogs Association PURPOSE: To honor all the Vietnam men and women who have served our Country. They did this during a time when Americans never thanked them for their service and to Honor the K-9 Comrades that saved so many American men and women.MY SUPPORT: I have donated $100 to this fund at this time, we will continue to donate until this memorial is dedicated. Space Coast War Dog Association (SCWDA) , Viet Nam Security Police Association K-9 Memorial , War Dog Stories #2) TASK: write wounded service men and women at,To Any Wounded Soldier Bethesda Naval Hospital Command Suite 8901 Wisconsin Ave Bethesda, MD 20889OR: To Any Wounded Soldier Walter Reed Army Medical Center6900 Georgia AveNW Washington,DC 20307-5001Sending packages of hope to Operationmilitarypride.orgPURPOSE: to maintain support for service men and women deployed all over the world. Sending packages, writing to wounded service men and women in hospitals and sending cards of thanks for their service to our great country. Operation Military Pride, supporting deployed military members worldwide MY SUPPORT: My children and I write to wounded servicemen. We write 10 letters a month. That's 40 letters in all. When you have the chance thank a Vietnam vet and welcome them home! Go to a VA Hospital and thank those who live there.#3) TASK: to help search and rescue units across America.PURPOSE: to raise awareness for the use of K-9s in search and rescue. To help these units get the funds for equipment and training needed to do their jobs. So that one day if you have a lost child they may be best prepared to find them. MY SUPPORT: Will go to the men and women like Cpt. Scott Shields and Bear, the Heroes of WTC on 911, and to the Bear SAR foundation.#4) TASK: educate people about animal rescue and proper animal care. ( local pounds and Rescue centers)PURPOSE: to educate people about animal adoption and the fact that you can teach an old dog new tricks! This may help people adopt rather than purchase an animal.MY SUPPORT: to donate 2 large bags of dog food a month to animal rescues. My mother has adopted Doberman Pinschers for the past 20 years and they have done nothing but show love and devotion to our family.#5) TASK: Purchase and fly an American flag! American FlagPURPOSE: to show we will not forget 911 and all the people who have died in the name of freedom over the past 200 years. I Am The Flag MY SUPPORT: We have our flag out and so do my neighbors, by doing this you show support to our troops and you show the persons to your left and right you live FREE. This shows no political view, if you do not support our President you still need to support the men and women who are away from their families so that you have the right to have that view. Do not let your political views blind the fact that these persons need our support. When its time to Vote that's when you get to show your political side! So be proud and FLY that FLAG! I also own 10 American Flag Ties! And numerous flag hats. Government Guide: U.S. Flag To fulfill all of the above we are working on many things. We are working on a War dog calendar, Great Animal Photo calendar, Children series book set with fluffy as the main character. We are writing a book about the whole Fluffy ordeal. We are attempting to get Christmas packages together for deployed special operation units. These men and woman cannot be "adopted" under the usual soldier programs so we are working on this project and will let you know what we come up with. Myself and the families of these troops may be raising money to ship packages as well as purchase items to be sent. We will let you know about this at a later date.We will be talking to many companies who will hopefully help sponsor some of these projects. Iams dog food has been a very positive figure in the past and hopefully will continue. They have not only been a great animal food company but good friends. And Wiley-X Sunglasses Company and Dan Freeman have supported me as well. It's nice to see a large company show such personal interest in something that they do not gain from! We will be challenging many other large companies and persons in the future and will only list the companies who prove to be honest and helpful. We have enough negative things in the press; our goal is to promote positive things and support for each other! We do ask that people be smart and do not just donate money. Be careful of whom you donate to, check them out and insure that the $5.00 or $500.00 dollars is going to the cause you want it to go to. We have found that asking the right questions seems to go a long way!So again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! We are Proud to be called an AMERICAN!Your Friends,Russell and Fluffy
