acupuncture treating eye disease - retinitis pigmentosa

 

 

Any experience out there treating retinitis pigmentosa? Were you able

to help? What pts, herbs or other treatments did you use with success?

 

Symptoms include = night blindness, tunnel vision, loss of peripheral

vision, eventual legal blindness

 

I know Julian scott has a new book on acup and eye disease.

Hi patty

 

As an acupuncturist and one who is registered as blind due to RP I can give

you a lot of information with regard to treating RP. I have to say that I

have yet to come across a cure for it. RP is caused by defective genes so

how can AP cure it?.....anyone? What I think AP (and herbs) can do is to

help maintain both body and eye health. It has been shown to improve the

circulation to the eye (often cited as one of the main reasons for retinal

degeneration). Apparently there are claims made that a type of

micro-acupuncture has been effective in treating chronic eye diseases using

points on the hands, feet and forehead. Again there are claims and

counterclaims as to its efficacy. A good article on treating eye diseases

I have yet to find a really good book which offers an effective treatment

protocol based on substantiated results in the clinic (perhaps others might

know of one that I have missed). Anyway if you should like to contact me
