I have a Glendonite pseudomorph after Calcite. It means that the crystal

started as a calcite crystal and after time the calcite was replaced by

glendonite, but retained the shape of the original crystal.

Those sound so cool. How do they do that?

I'm not exactly sure, but from memory, the original substance becomes

unstable and is replaced by the other.

I remembered wrong with my pseudomorph. Glendonite is a calcite

pseudomorph after Ikaite. Sorry for the misinformation. The one I have

comes from the centre of Australia and looks nothing like the Russian

ones. Mine kind of looks like a dolphin :-)

I've also seen a calcite pseudomorph after quartz in a cluster. It

looked like the cluster had been left out in the snow, it was beautiful.

Some one else bought it before I could find my bag,
