Guest guest
Can anyone share info on properties of Gaspeite? I recently acquired a piece that is a nice apple green with brown matrix. I am guessing the brown is copper but I am not sure. I know gaspeite comes from the Gaspe peninsula in Canada, and that it is relatively rare, but as for its physical and metaphysical properties I'm at a loss. Couldn't find anything in the files. Help, anyone? Thanks, Rita

I recently acquired a piece that is a nice apple green with brown matrix. > Congratulations on the gaspeite! I think this is a beautiful stone... just discovered it myself approx. a year ago. I was a local metaphysical shop and while chatting with a friend who owns the store I noticed this vibrant green pendant in the case. I asked to spend some time with it and the energy was really dynamic. She didn't know much about it at the time and it was the first I had encountered it. Needless to say, it came straight home with me. I began researching the stone geologically and, as you mentioned, it is named for the Gaspe' Peninsula in Canada, but it also comes from Australia (which is where most all of the gaspeite you see today is coming from) and Nevada also. The brown in the stone that you referenced is most likely the goethite and limonite base. The green color of gaspeite is due to the fact that it's a nickel bearing mineral. It is important to note that a good portion of the gaspeite avaiable, especially pieces set in jewelry, has been stabilized and sometimes reconstituted like turquoise and other stones. If this is a concern for you, be sure you buy from someone that is aware of whether this has been done or not or try to buy a rough piece in its obviously natural form. It took a bit of searching for me, but I was able to adopt a few natural pieces for my personal stone family from a collector that I trust a great deal. Much of what I saw was stabilized or treated in some way, despite claims to the contrary. Gaspeite is " the healer's healer " in that it assists those that do a great deal of healing work with others to recharge themselves through drawing in vitality and lifeforce through the heart center. Gaspeite is very solid support for people who are psychologists, medical doctors, massage therapists, alternative healers, etc. My experience shows that this beautiful stone can help one " recharge " to a sufficient degree in a very short period of time. I have recommended that healers work with this stone for a few minutes between each healing session, especially if they see clients back to back throughout the day. Doing so can help to prevent " burn out " and associated problems that come from caring so much for everyone else that can't care for yourself properly. With this in mind, it is also very good for stay-at-home parents that tend to their family all day. During the act of laying on of stones, gaspeite works to clear dissonance from both the heart and solar plexus areas, along with clearing and synchronizing the mental and emotional bodies. For those able to hear clairaudiently, gaspeite may often be heard sounding high frequency tones that help the clearing process. The stone spirits of gaspeite can assist us in resolving the often experience dichotomy between head and heart. The lime green color melds the green of the heart with the yellow of the head, resulting in a vibrant lime green color that embodies the energies of will directed by love. Gaspeite can assist people that are either too emotionally based or too mentally based to find a middle ground with either polarity. On higher levels, lime green is a color of quickening. The energies of gaspeite accelerate the frequency of energy moving within and around our bodies. In so doing, the stone spirits of gaspeite allow our consciousness to expand in such a way that it can " reach further to perceive more. " The stone spirits of gaspeite can assist us in shamanic journeys, divination and all intuively based pursuits. Because of the same magnetic quality that draws nurturing energy to those in need, gaspeite is a stone of attraction. Specifically, the lime green ray draws energies in through the heart and solar plexus centers, which creates an energetic " loop " that embodies both attraction (heart) and manifestation (solar plexus). There is so much more to learn about this stone as it has only recently made its way into the metaphysical circles. Please consider what I have said above as the very, very tip of the iceberg. I continue to dance with this stone each day and I learn more about it with each breath. I have yet to fully unlock the scope of its mysteries. I hope this is useful in some small way.
