and retreat from life. It already siginifies a lack of will (zhi) and

therefore, a diminishment of the fire in mingmen. There is then a circuar effect

the lack of will (inner strength-heart fire) leads to opiate use and the

opiate use further brakes down the will via the addicition.

It could be said that use of any substance, or even addiction to thought

forms involves lack of will, or at least will not properly informed by

Reality. However it should be clear that coffee, speed, or tobacco use, for

example,

could reinforce activity Whereas the opiates reflect a person turning their

back on the evolutionary impulse (mingmen) and saying " No " to life. What colder

act could there be?
