viral infection causing blindness in Navy Seals

Ok - we have a friend who is ex Navy Seals.

 

He is losing his eyesight - due to a viral infection that hit the back

of his eyes, in the blood vessels that feed the back of the eye. ( I

don't have all the information -- but from what my sister learned, the

virus caused the blood vessels specific to that part of his eye, to

break down and leak blood into the eye.)

 

He's lost his night-vision and much of his sight in one eye. His right

eye has begun to degenerate. (so, of course, he walks his dog at night

-- so he can increase his other night senses....)

 

It seems this virus hit a number of Seals he knows.

 

He has a HUGE heart (energy just radiates from his heart and chest) and

enormous courage - so he will do what it takes to turn this situation

around.

 

Any ideas??
