Guest guest
My friend is tall and very thin. She is apparently unable to gain weight because of food allergies. Has anyone heard of this? Is there any site or information I can give her? Thank you.

Hi, Generally food allergies have two main drivers: 1) Bad cell membrane Omega 6 to Omega 3 ratio (too much 6 and not enough 3) causing too much cell generated inflammatory response. 2) Lack of sufficient protein digestive enzymes to totally break down various proteins (enzymes, hormones, etc) and the resulting short amino peptide strings causing unwanted bioactivity inside the body. What to do: 1) Try to eliminate as much Omega 6 rich veggie oils, margarine, mayonnaise, etc as possible. 2) Take either cod liver oil or fish oil capsules to get around 600 mg of Omega 3 EPA + DHA. 3) Use a pre-digested complete amino acid powder to reboot the bodies ability to make digestive enzymes. http://www.jomarlabs.com/20blend.asp 4) Use pre meal digestive enzymes to assist the pancreas until the amino acid powders kick in. 5) Eat blended veggies and fruits to assist better digestion. Guest guest
Have your friend look into NAET or bioset treatments. I have a similar problem. I've been underweight my whole life, and as the allergies increased, my weight dropped. Malapsorption from intestinal inflammation, poor digestive function, and metabolism problems contributed to it. However, I haven't had much benefit from using digestive enzymes and balancing Omega 6:Omega 3 fats. (And I've tried these approaches religiously under the guidance of a naturopath, along with using permeability nutrients) Many people with poor digestion and food allergies end up allergic to the digestive enzymes taken to improve digestion. Usually the food allergies start with gut dysbiosis, and once the intestinal flora becomes imbalanced and things are aggravated by food allergies and insufficient digestive enzymes, it's usually very difficult to correct, unless it's caught in the early stages. Someone who has had lifelong problems with food allergies isn't going to find a quick, easy fix. Your friend might consider reading the book " The Food Allergy Cure " by Ellen Cutler. Don't let the description throw you, as it says " A New Solution to Food Cravings, Obesity, Depression, Headaches, Arthritis and Fatigue " in the title. Obesity is just as much related to food allergies as being underweight. The book focuses on bioset treatment of food allergies.
