Gou Qi Zi in the Adelaide Central Market & ORAC update

Hi All,

 

Gou Qi Zi (Wolf Berry) is available in the Adelaide Central Market 100g for Aus

$1.80 (US $0.90). Called Lycium

Chinese. Shop owner feeds around 10 g (2,530 Orac Anti-Oxidant units) per day

to her family for good eyes and liver

function. Very small (6 - 8 mm long and 4 - 5 mm wide), reddish, dried fruit

which has a slightly sweet taste and is

nice to chew. I ate about 50 g as I walked around doing my shopping this

morning.

I will add 10 g to my morning coconut & fruit smoothie and take out 5 prunes.

 

1/2 cup blueberries (75 g & 1,800 Orac units)

1/2 cup strawberries (72 g & 1,108 Orac units)

5 prunes (42 g & 2,423 Orac units)

1/2 banana (59 g & 124 ORAC units)

1 kiwi fruit (100 g & 604 Orac units)

10 g wolfberries (10 g & 2,530 Orac units)

1 tablespoon ground flax (Omega 3 LNA & fiber)

1 tablespoons soy protein powder

1/2 cup coconut milk

 

The ORAC rating is at least 8,589.

 

I have added more foods (including Vit C and Vit E) and a column for ORAC per

gram to my ORAC listing and Excel
