CODEX commission may endanger free access to herbs and vitamins

 

Americans are used to being able to go to the health food store and

pick up

a bottle of ginger herb or vitamin C. It would never occur to them

that

this could be illegal -- it would make no sense, would it? But in

Germany or France, you cannot buy vitamins and herbs that way.

Vitamins

and herbs must be registered like drugs and the vast majority is

only

available at pharmacies at excessive prices.

 

The CODEX commission is a committee of the United Nations that sets

guide lines for world wide food standards. For many years now it has

been trying to slip in regulations about herbs and vitamins, thereby

seriously limiting access to these natural substances. The planned

regulations would be similar to those in France and Germany. All

members

of the UN would be required to follow these guide lines.

 

At the end of November, the CODEX commission once again convened to

discuss limiting access to herbs and vitamins for the whole world.

The

advisors of the committee are practically exclusively people from

large

pharmaceutical and food companies. Their goal is to limit access to

natural health so that people need more of their drugs.

 

In a never before seen effort, almost 250,000,000 (250 million)

letters

of protest were sent before this year's conference. Based on that,

once

again no decision was taken until next year.

 

But now it is time to end this sword of Damocles once and for all

times.
