Guest guest
Flaxseeds JoAnn Guest Oct 22, 2002 13:57 PDT Flaxseed is another great bulking/drawing herbal choice. The seeds have a multitude of herbal uses with one being their ability to increase the fiber content in the colon, thereby increasing better evacuation of toxins. That " bulking " really says it all since flaxseed expands in your colon, forcing your body into action. The action is similar to psyllium seeds. In fact, you will often find flaxseed and psyllium seed paired together in many natural " bulking " forumulas for the colon. Defining the Perfect Dose Flaxseed is easy to take as long as you follow the directions precisely. Eat one to two tablespoons of whole or freshly ground flaxseeds, chewing them thoroughly. Immediately follow with 16 ounces of water. As with psyllium seed, it's important that you drink 16 ounces of water after taking the seeds or they will form into hard clumps within the intestines. This could cause blockages in the colon— something you don't want if you're already suffering from a sluggish colon. Flaxseeds can be taken morning and night for up to seven days, then you might want to reduce the dose by one tablespoon and take it only once a day. Another way to get flaxseeds into your body is by mixing them into cereal. This works best if the cereal is of a porridge consistency rather than a dry type. Blend one teaspoon of finely ground flaxseed into the cereal and enjoy. It's important to drink 16 ounces of water after eating the cereal. Guest guest
I use about 3 tablespoons of flax seeds into the blender when I make my morning fruit/protein smoothie. Total volume is 2 quarts, so I feel I am getting enough water with my fiber. I now add the ground flax seed to my protein drink. (Usually 2 tablespoons) I suspect your concoction is better than mine. For some time, I have been trying to make a listing of all the nutrients in my drink. I have it about 80% done. If a number of people have some special recipe they have developed, we would be interested in seeing the result. Wayne
Guest guest
Hi Wayne, breakfast is my largest meal of the day. I slowly sip it over about a 2 hour period while I sit at my computer, read my e-mail, etc., and slowly wake up. As I gave up caffeine a while back, I now give myself lots of time to get into full gear for my day's work. I wake up at around noon, sip my breakfast, take a 1/2 hour nap, make dinner & take dinner with me to work at 6PM.
