Guest guest
Dear Jen, Are you on any current medication? These can cause a problem with your immune system and cause your body to allow overgrowth of thrush or other areas of the body. There are a number of things to use and most discussed on the web, but the best thing that I have found (by accident)and I have never seen it discussed is UNFILTERED grape juice. I know it sounds to simple to work, but it usually does. It must be unfiltered grape juice which is heavy with the purple pigment from the grapes. Just have a glass handy and take a sip of it ever so often over the course of the day. Try to hold it in your mouth before swallowing to give the pigments more time to come into contact with the thrush. The purple pigments adhere to the thrush like crazy and kills it over a couple of weeks. The thrush gets a purple color to it and dies off if you keep taking the juice continually. I have seen this work in cases of years duration when about everything medically possible has been tried by the allopaths over the course of years of on and off again treatment. Most people dismiss this cure because it sounds to easy to work, but whatever is in that grape changes the enviournment and kills the yeast. Another good thing to try is Kefir or Kombucha tea. Both are " good yeast " based and will kill bad yeasts too. The kefir must be homemade to work. " Kefir " from a store is not " real " kefir but a product made to look and taste like kefir but very different in it's yeasts and bacterias involved. Real kefir has from 100 to 200 identified yeasts and bacterias in each strain tested. Both of these are very easy to make at home. No cooking involved. You basically just add the cultures to the liquid and let it go to work and then use. There is a kefir link on our links page. I havent got around to posting the kombucha link yet. Very seldom do people have any success over time with any allopathic cures for this problem. Any treatment from the doctors using something to attack it will make it subside but usually comes back once the drug is stopped. The only way to completly stop it that I know of is to change the enviournment that the bad yeast lives in and then replace it with good yeasts and bacterias that stop the bad from gaining a foothold again. The actual good ones will " kill " the bad ones. Kinda like fighting fire with fire. On the plus side the good ones will give you B vitamins and a lot of other good things that will make all your body healthier and help your immune system. Some of the substances in kefir and kombucha have been shown to be great anticancer substances also. I have just barely toched on a few properties of these substances, there is much much more to them than what I mentioned here. Hope that this helps, Frank Gettingwell, " ourjenuk " <ourjen@h...> wrote: > Hi, Can anyone recommend anything for oral thrush, I have it quite > badly on my tongue and in my throat. Guest guest
Check out the Candidiasis group at and search the archives under oral thrush. They had many things helpful for this condition. Also consider looking into a bowelcleanse. Candida thrives in a stopped up colon. Take food enzymes because Candida thrives on undigested food. You can't tell if it is undigested by looking in the toilet. A Comprehensive Stool Analysis can determine that. There is a bowelcleanse group on too. Also I was given prescription powdered Nystatin for my yeast overgrowth in the gut. This is the same stuff they give you for thrush and it helps very much. Some persons noted that it made their condition worse but it depends on the strain of yeast that you have, what will work and what won't. Grapefruit seed extract in a little water is supposed to kill off yeast really good. You could try swishing that around in your mouth. You can swallow it also, it does the body good too. But for some reason I can't take it because it causes constipation really bad in me. Guest guest
Hi Jen! Arrrgh! Unpleasant isn't the best word, it can be painful! I know someone who used tea tree oil successfully once, but it didn't work again so well for him next time. Antifungals are the solution, see your physician. There are nystatin drops which can treat this topically, giving you more immediate releif. If you're on antibiotics, you may wish to stop (if you don't absolutely need them), as it gives the yeast an edge. There are 2 other drugs which are useful (see doctor). You may have yeast in your gut, too. Get sugar out of your diet (even fruit!), use stevia to sweeten. Yeast loves sugar! Don't give it an advantage! See your Naturopath for a good diet plan & supplements. Restore healthy bacteria with Bio-K (little cups of lactobacillus @ health store). Thrush can be a symptom of impaired immunity, it's classic. You should investigate this (can happen for several reasons. HIV infection is one among several.) Wishing you a fast recovery!
