For depression, L-Tyrosine and/or DLPA work well taken in the mornings on an

empty stomach.

Recently I have found that 5-HTP is also good for mood and sleep.

For depression, some very good helps are agrimony and also Borage Oil.

Both can be purchased at the health food store and aren't expensive.

The rest of the post and Sheila's advice seemed just right to me also.

I would also suggest that your Aunt go out and do as much as possible

to keep herself busy. Preferably around other folks, and even to do some

'helps' to others who need some assistance or errands done for them.

That always makes you feel better about yourself if you can be of help

to another. Even visiting hospitals or such to cheer patients can be good.

Hoping your Aunt finds some help from the above. It's good that she makes

herself go out and do. Would she countenance the comfort of a dog or cat?

Sometimes that makes all the difference. Especially, if she can get out

and about. Dogs are very good comforters, especially if you check out

their temperments first. My mom's " Silkie " , a smallish mixed breed dog,

got her through some very tough times and mom was better for it.

Best,

Marian (newish to the list, but old to the problem of depression)
