Here is the first of 5 Free reports we send new rs to Alternative HealthZine. They summarise much of our approach to getting healthy - and keeping healthy. I hope they will help you in your quest to feel TERRIFIC - for the whole of your lo-o-o-ong and happy life! (Un details at bottom) *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ Your first FREE REPORT from Alternative HealthZine, tells you why there is so much sickness in the western world - and points out how YOU can find some simple solutions. It's called... *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ SO - YOU WANT TO BE HEALTHY? *^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^*^ First, a few questions: Do you feel FANTASTIC all day? Are you FREE of recurring symptoms - aches, pains, discomfort, headaches or indigestion? Do you have FANTASTIC ENERGY from morning to night? Women - are your HORMONES well balanced, and your periods regular, and with little or no discomfort? IN THE MENOPAUSE - are you CONSTANTLY COOL and CALM?! Do you sleep well? I hope so... but maybe not..?! Don't worry - TODAY'S REPORT IS ABOUT WHAT TO DO IF YOU *DO* HAVE ANY SYMPTOMS; little niggling things which you have been meaning to do something about, perhaps; an ache, a pain, a discomfort... You might have seen a doctor or two, who might have said " you have to expect that at your age " , or " it's quite normal... " . Or maybe you just haven't quite *got around to* doing something about it! I'm going to give you some information which will help you deal with any symptoms you may have. I didn't say I'm going to *cure* you of any ailments! Life is not always that simple (though you may well get rid of annoying 'niggles' by using this information). My main aim, though, is to tell you about a sensible approach to healthcare which will serve you for the rest of your life. An approach which includes getting information both from regular and alternative health practitioners; but one in which *you* make the decisions. This is about empowering *you* to keep yourself healthy. There are no guarantees with this approach to healthcare. I cannot *guarantee* that you will become super-healthy whatever your health situation now. I just say that this is the best approach to healthcare that I know. See what you think! ***************************************************************** Report 1. SO - YOU WANT TO BE HEALTHY? ONLY THE MINORITY OF THE POPULATION have serious health problems. They should seek professional help without delay. How about the remaining 'healthy' majority? Are you really 'healthy'? You may not like this, but I propose to be direct in giving you this information! So... HERE ARE TWO STARK FACTS ABOUT: * HEALTHCARE IN THE 21st CENTURY!! * 1. Most of the 'healthy' section of the population - those with no current illnesses - will be the victims of SERIOUS or even FATAL disease during their lifetime! 2. Shockingly, MOST OF THIS DISEASE IS COMPLETELY AVOIDABLE!! It is a FACT that most people will contract fatal diseases! I can even tell you what those diseases are likely to be; First, Heart Disease and second, Cancer. That such diseases are mainly avoidable for most people - this is more controversial! But follow my story through, and see if it makes sense to you. And DON'T WORRY - I intend to help you to AVOID BECOMING ONE OF THE SICK MAJORITY! (Hint - the key lies in PREVENTION!) ================== WHY IS DISEASE IN LATER LIFE SO WIDESPREAD? Because our current conventional medical system fails us. I'm not just saying this - I have been studying the subject for more than 20 years! When I first realised this truth, as a young man, I was puzzled, and a little shocked. I had been brought up to believe and respect doctors; How could so many of them be wrong in their belief in a health system - of drugs and operations - which was so fundamentally flawed? Did they not think through what they were doing? Obviously, many - probably most - do not. At least not to the depth I would prefer. The truth is that, although regular medicine is great in certain narrow areas of healthcare, *CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE CAN ONLY *PATCH UP* DISEASES!* Do you just want to be *patched up*? Of course not - not if there is a better option. But don't let's throw the baby out with the bathwater; there is some small comfort; *REGULAR MEDICINE IS NOT **COMPLETE** RUBBISH!* There is no doubt that surgery for disfigurement, inherited abnormalities, or following accidents - can be absolutely brilliant. These are areas in which current medical care excels. But, also doubtless: ***KEY FACT*** **************************************************************** DRUG 'CURES' are largely designed to *COVER UP* symptoms, rather than improve the underlying conditions causing them. **************************************************************** Read this again! In fact, most drugs are simply *masking agents*. Of course there are a few exceptions. But there can be no doubt that 'cover-up' is the general approach of modern medicine to caring for health. This is because the action of drugs is to 'impose' themselves on the body's natural functions. On the other hand, natural, or alternative, medicine generally attempts to **stimulate the body's own healing processes**. This is much more likely to work in the long term. Just as the body can heal a cut in the skin reliably, and usually near perfectly; so it can - with the right help (enter alternative medicines) - carry out a repair internally, to tissues or organs inside the body. THE QUICK FIX! The widespread use of drug medicine encourages us to demand a 'quick fix' - the so-called 'magic bullet' - for health problems. Occasionally, in an emergency, a rapid solution - such as drugs - may well be necessary. Or when it comes to diabetes, for example, there may be no alternative, in most cases, to insulin supplementation. But in most cases - THE QUICK FIX CAUSES MORE PROBLEMS THAN IT SOLVES! A 'quick fix' should generally only be used in the short term. In the long term - how can there be a quick fix for a problem that has probably taken years to build up in your body? It doesn't make sense, does it? It takes *time* to reverse a situation which has been building up for years. And the method to be used should, preferably, not involve drugs! Again, I say if you have a life threatening illness, then you may *have* to take drugs. I'm not talking about this type of situation; I'm talking about the 95% of cases where people have symptoms which a doctor would either throw drugs at, or say 'nothing can be done'. If you are currently taking drugs, make very careful and extensive enquiries before you consider coming off them. And if you do decide you want to do so, find a doctor who will help you come off them safely, and will monitor your progress thereafter. Drugs are powerful, and should be treated with respect. Back to the main plot!... SYMPTOMS GIVE YOU VALUABLE INFORMATION! * Symptoms are your body's way of communicating to you a VERY SIMPLE MESSAGE! The message is: " HELP! " Ignore them - or obscure them (eg with drugs!) - at your peril! The body doesn't want drugs. Using a quick-fix for that ache or pain - aspirin or Paracetamol - is like hoping to put out a fire by disconnecting the wire to the fire alarm. A symptom of pain or discomfort must be investigated properly. And YOU ARE THE PERSON TO DO IT! Let's face it - no-one cares as much about your health as you do! Of course you'll need help - from supportive friends, family members, and experts you trust. TAKE YOUR TIME I'm not saying that if you have a major illness you should kick out the doctor and 'treat youself'! Learning what your body requires to keep it healthy takes years - and you need advice from experts - including friendly doctors. But the final decision as to what to do for your health should be yours. It should not be taken for you by some supercilious GP (MD in America) - there are still some about, as I frequently hear. DEVELOP YOUR OWN SKILLS AT DIAGNOSING YOUR BODY YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A MEDICAL DOCTOR TO DIAGNOSE YOUR HEALTH! In fact, medical doctors as a profession have an atrocious health record themselves! In the UK, doctors have among the highest levels of drug addiction, alcoholism and suicide of all the professions. So don't look on them as near perfect individuals. They have hundreds of patients to deal with, and budgets to consider. They have a very high stress job! Hence the health problems which go with the job. In fact in many ways, it is better for you *not* being a doctor to choose the best solutions for your health. TAKE A TIP FROM HENRY FORD Be like Henry Ford - of Ford Motor Cars - who was called 'ignorant' in print, and so sued for slander. In court, the council for the defence tried to make out that Ford was stupid, by asking him difficult general knowledge questions. Ford, who had little formal education, said something to this effect: " On my desk I have a row of buttons, which I can use to summon an expert on virtually every subject under the sun. Why should I clutter up my mind with general knowledge facts and figures when I can pay experts to learn more than I possibly could in my lifetime, and pass that knowledge on to me on request? " Be like Henry Ford. You don't have to *be* a doctor to make decisions about your health; you just have to *get information* from doctors - and others who have the knowledge you lack - and then MAKE YOUR OWN MIND UP! Another important piece of advice: DON'T IGNORE SYMPTOMS! Don't *ignore* symptoms. This can be easy to do - and you can get away with it for years. Many people do. But things are actually *slowly getting worse* all the time! Common sense, isn't it? If you haven't changed the causes of a symptom - it's probably worsening. One day, you won't be able to ignore that symptom any more. You may even have a serious disease on your hands, which would have been much easier to deal with when it was at the mild stage. **KEY FACT** **************************************************************** ACT EARLY - the later you leave it, the harder it is for alternative methods to work; and the more likely you will have to resort to 'patch up' with drugs and operations. **************************************************************** I repeat: Don't Ignore Symptoms!!! When you have an ache, pain, or some other disturbance in your body, YOU really must WORK OUT (with help) WHAT IS GOING ON! YES - it's up to YOU - and we're going to help you by providing the information and support to help you investigate your own health! You will be a HEALTH DETECTIVE - tracking down the causes of your problems, and taking appropriate action! We will support you, we will help you wherever we can - as long as YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR OWN GOOD HEALTH! CAN THE DOCTOR HELP? Definitely. Go and ask for advice. Doctors have in depth training, and will usually be able to give you some useful information - even if it's just " It's not so-and-so " . He/she may know of something specific that your symptoms indicate. For example, excessive thirst can indicate diabetes; lassitude (tiredness) can indicate an underactive thyroid gland. There are many other connections which a doctor knows - use that knowledge. But don't expect a useful answer every single time. You've probably heard of the man who goes to the doctor and describes his symptoms, and the doctor says " What a coincidence - I get that too! Let me know if you find out what it is! " Yes - go to the doctor for a diagnosis; but then STOP AND THINK about that diagnosis. It is UP TO YOU to decide what to do about it! If the doctor is open minded - discuss the options together. If the doctor is not - you'll have to think about it elsewhere - away from any pressure. WHAT ABOUT 'TESTS'? Most people have great regard for these 'tests'! It's easy to think " I've had tests for so-and-so and nothing's shown up.... " . However, if you still feel terrible, the tests weren't any use, were they?! Remember this about, say, blood or urine tests: The 'tests' which are possible reflect the current knowledge of medical science. Don't forget that in many respects, medicine is still in the stone age. (Don't forget that it wasn't so long ago that the height of medical knowledge was to bleed a patient to let out 'bad energy'. Yes - only the wealthy could afford to pay for 'blood-letting'.) Realise that: 1. Your sample will only be 'tested' for certain things. 2. Your doctor will only have asked for certain tests to be done. He may be constrained by cost considerations for example (ie you may not be worth it to him/her ...!) If you have a blood test - only *certain things* will be tested for. So don't think a blood test has tested everything possible. Don't afford more respect to " tests " than they deserve. What you can do is find out: Which tests are being done; What alternatives are available; If the alternatives may give you useful information; How you can get them done, if they would be useful. And - get copies of the results of your tests. Insist on it! They are yours after all - and on a future occasion you may want to show them to someone else. Some tests can actually cause more harm than benefit - there is a definite case against cervical smears, for example. Before anyone writes to me telling me I'm a terrible person - read the evidence first yourself. You'll find it is not the 'obviously good thing' which it may seem to you. (I used to think that.) One good source of scientific studies which go against the conventional grain is 'What Doctors Don't Tell You' magazine. They also have a booklet on the pros and cons of medical tests, including cervical smear tests. I recommend you to the magazine. http://www.wddty.co.uk Also, get hold of a book such as: 'The Patient's Guide to Medical Tests: Everything You Need to Know About the Tests Your Doctor Prescribes' by Joseph Stauffer, Joseph C. Segen, et al, which is about £10 from http://www.amazon.co.uk, or $14 from http://www.amazon.com. You certainly don't *have to* go for the tests or take the treament the doctor recommends - unless you actually want to. Don't be bullied! Nurses in surgeries can pressurise you too; if you feel pressured - say " Not now, thanks, I want to think about it. " And go away from the pressure to somewhere you can make a careful decision. * WHAT TO DO NEXT * You've been to the doctor, and got his/her diagnosis. Now what? How do you work out what is going on? You have to gather more information and try to work it out for yourself. This may sound tricky - or even impossible - but remember that Practice Makes Perfect! You really are the best person to get to know your own body - and decide about your own health. As the years pass, you will get to know your own mind and body better and better. A. BOOKS AND MAGAZINES. Obviously, you can read about any symptoms you may have. There are many, many health books available, and numerous magazines. Any of these can be valuable sources of information. Although there is some rubbish out there too. Be critical when reading; ask " Does this make sense to me? " For example, in the UK we have 'What Doctors Don't Tell You' magazine, as mentioned above. I mention them again only because I think they are doing a great job. They have been exposing some of the stupidities of the health system since 1989. They are not lefty 'tree-huggers', though; they can criticise the alternative medicine profession too, if they find cause. We also have other health magazines, such as Here's Health, and the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine (JACM), which often carry useful articles. B. AN ALTERNATIVE PRACTITIONER Practitioners in alternative therapy are another source. For example, consider an acupuncturist, osteopath, homeopath, Alexander technique teacher or reflexologist. They will not generally have had the level of medical training that a doctor has - so don't expect it. This is one reason you need to combine the information you have received from your doctor, with the opinions of one or more alternative practitioners. You can then make your own judgement. If you cannot decide exactly what is going on, that is fine. Just proceed on the information you have. You will get more information as you read, think, and talk to practitioners and helpful friends. If you just have not got enough information, you can only keep searching, and talking to as many people as possible. Eventually, you will find something you want to try. C. THE INTERNET Websites can have useful information on them. Most sites are selling something - so watch out for their bias. Nevertheless, many health site owners - in common with other suppliers on the Internet - give copious information for free. Be a little cautious, though, of MLM (multi-level marketing) sites selling health products. The proponents of MLM products may say ‘so and so is fantastic' when they are not actually as enthusiastic as they sound. I am not getting at MLM distributors, I'm just saying don't necessarily believe everything you hear. Discussion Groups/ezines are a valuable way of exchanging information with others with similar symptoms. Try searching for relevant ones at: http://www.allhealth.com at 'ivillage'. http://www.lifestylespub.com * WHAT TO DO AFTER YOU HAVE GATHERED INFORMATION? * Think hard about the information you have; decide if you have enough to choose a course of action. If so - get started! If not - you'll just have to keep gathering more. But KEEP AT IT until you do have enough information! Go for it - don't put it on the back burner! It's YOUR life - you deserve to be as healthy as possible. You are the best person to be IN CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH! SUMMARY 1. Most people in the western world die of heart disease or cancer. 2. These diseases are avoidable for many people - if they will take measures to keep themselves healthy. Many of these measures will be covered in this series of reports. 3. Some people inherit weaknesses which make it more likely they will develop serious diseases. Others develop the weaknesses during their lifetime. * This can be because of behavioural or environmental influences - such as bad living habits; or because of external influences, eg pollution, or living too close to a high voltage electricity source. * In either case, the health measures we will describe will make it less likely that major diseases will be contracted in later life. 4. ACT EARLY. Or at least as early as you can (for example... start NOW!!) Symptoms are signs that the mind/body is not working as it should. Investigate the cause of those symptoms. * The earlier you do, the more likely - and the more easily - they will respond to natural healthcare approaches. * The longer you leave it, the more likely you will have to resort to drugs and operations. 5. There are no guarantees! The material in these reports is offered to you for educational purposes. No-one can guarantee a life free of major disease! But, if you take certain health promoting measures - we will tell you what they are! - you are more likely to live a healthier life, and stay healthy and happy to a ripe old age. 6. Read what we have to say - and make up your own mind! ************************************************************* NB DON'T PLAY AROUND WITH YOUR HEALTH! If you have a recognised illness, and especially if taking drugs, you definitely need assistance and advice from someone used to dealing with these situations. Seek the advice of a sympathetic doctor, and find an experienced naturopath to assist you to get well. Listen to the guidance and help offered, then make up your own mind what to do. Don't be pushed into any decision you don't really want to take. It's the only way to learn about your health! A few people experience 'cleansing reactions' as the body 'throws off toxins', when carrying out natural healthcare methods. Examples of these reactions include loose bowels, headaches and temporary tiredness. The general advice for such reactions is to ease off on the treatment until they calm down, then resume at a more gentle pace. If you are in good general health, you should cope easily with such reactions. Some people even feel good at this time - a sign that the body is happy to be getting rid of a burden. However, it is always most helpful to have professionals on hand you can turn to for support and advice when using natural healthcare methods. And, as mentioned above, if you have a recognised illness, it is essential for your safety and good health to have professionals - both in the alternative and regular medical fields - to whom you can turn for help. *************************************************************** You are receiving this series of 5 FREE health reports for subscribing to Alternative HealthZine.
