Pruritic urticaria papules of pregnancy (PUPP)

My first post. I'm Saroj, one of Martha's Florida interns. Hi everyone.

 

What I need help with is a 1 week postpartum mom who is experiencing

intense itching and rash that first developed in last trimester

arising from her stretch marks. Medically, it has been identified as

PUPP. Now it is spreading to buttocks and beyond. Not sure of

details here because her symptoms are reported by my brother (she is

my sister-in-law's sister). Apparently the itching is so intense that

it is debilitating to her ( " driving her crazy! " )

 

She probably would not comply to dietary change or follow the

guidelines on her own. Although if someone could go to her, she might

accept care. I cannot go now due to my work committment. She lives

in south Florida. There may also be a noncompliance issue due to her

following a strict kosher diet. I don't know if it is possible to

serve Ayurvedic meals following kosher guidelines.

 

Has anyone had experience with this? The only suggestion I can come

up with for relief is homeopathic urtica urens, oral and topical. I'm

away from home till tonight so have not referenced my essential oil

desk reference yet.
