Dear Carla;

You are right, avail time to respond is a factor in wheter to make

this forum available to your forum members. I had initially talked

about eventually turning this into students/practitioners only, but I

can do that elsewhere more easily than close the doors :).

What I would like to do is open this question to the rest of the group

- which includes several qualified practitioners in various

specialties related to these needs, as well as a number of AyurDoulas

who need to be practicing their knowledge ... it is a service project

for sure, but as with you, our replies will be referred to for many's

needs, rather than rewrite. This is why I started in the first place

here, as clients often call or email getting free advice/time from me

and I can't keep it up to always repeat it. I might revise the opening

statement to the site in this way.

I know it is much info ... but as it all goes together, it is

difficult to give a small piece and feel justified. So I'm glad to

hear you will use it as reference, that is also my intent and I know,

how we learn.

WHen I was first introduced to ayurveda for family life/cooking, I

posted three sheets of paper inside my spice cabinet - for the three

metabolic dietary guidelines. I looked at them when I had time and

felt called, and that was some of my best learning.

Yes, when someone goes to my website, they have choices to order a

book which doesn't go into ayurvedic theory much at all but gives the

keys for good postpartum routine/self and baby care.

On the resources pages they can find more excellent reading such as

Dr. Kummuda REddy's book, For a Blissful Baby, which explains much

more the theory very kindly, easy to read. She is available for phone

consultations, I believe, with a clinic in Maryland. She is very

familiar with this program, unlike most of the western ayurvedic

options, as Cora explained. Her herbal recommendations will be,

though on the expensive side, very high quality and easy to use in

pill/tablet form unlike those I work with. (Many don't want to deal

witht the taste/time of powdered herbal preparations although then you

can personalize even more).

They can also see on the CARE page of the www.sacredwindow.com site, a

good list of options for CARE from a DISTANCE as well as in home care.

They can FIND a DOULA on the list of AYurDoulas around the country,

or on the REsources page. And they can CONTACT us for private

consultations. If you cannot afford panchakarma and a lot of

ayurvedic education/care, then this is a very good option (re after

the 6 weeks) so much better than dropping it!

What do you all think?

Martha
