Guest guest
Namaste All; THere has been some recent discussion comparing some of the different lines of herbals as well as Chyvan prash formulas on the ayurveda (search archives) forum, and I'm grateful to see what info is avail/just posted on Hymalayan products. I've been pleased with my quality/price avail from Banyan Botanicals, particularly as I purchase mostly bulk herbs and they provide an increasing line of certified organic ones. I don't know how their compounds compare with Himalayan, or Amritaveda, which is now separate from Ayurshakti, or Maharishi Ayurveda - the lines I am familiar with. From what I know to date, The Maharishi Ayurveda and Ayushakti compounds (tablets etc) are probably highest quality prepared from not just pressed tabletized herbs, but from concentrates decocoted and re dried, making them Ayurvedic hospital pharaceutical grade much more potent and effective preparations. Hopefully Hakim and our other more active ayurvedic practitioner members will comment? I am working now (full time) with a family all but one of them either medical or street drug addiction history, the primary is 6 years postpartum depression and such a history, presented 5 weeks out of 4 month detox residential program with major experience of emptiness about her life and inner experience " spiritually, physically and emotionally bankrupt " as she put it, (they are very financially comfortable) depression, history of 10 day heavy menses and concieved by her parents on LSD, used marijuana and LSD all her childhood, very functional on drugs; extreme vata! SSRI side effects of serious proportions they didn't even realize it was why she one year ago (having taken herself off the Zoloft whose side effects she hated) got into a fight at an ATM and ended up stealing $40! Totally out of character. On probation for this and cocaine/crack addiction/recovery because she preferred it to the SSRIs side effects and then couldn't get off of course, the ATM incident served to bring her secret out, this a blessing. SHe is fine to share her story, BTW. We are working first with rebuild and rejuvenate therapies, then hopefully detoxing with Panchakarma; and in conjunction with both an ayurvedic physician's and an alternative nurse practitioner's guidance, both of whom are very experienced with all these case type considerations. Nourishing vata (and to some extent pitta) pacifying diet, massage, personalized herbal formula just started (we had to clear with medical letter to probation office) and some energy work (Jin Sin Jyutsu) and the therapeutic grade essential oils. The latter are such a Godsend, and the whole family is starting to use them. This mother is very welcome to learning how to " self medicate " as they call it, with healthy choices, and the essential oils give such immediate uplift, prana, oxygenation, and help so much to keep he emotional stickiness down, and to rapidly change perspective saving everyone's psychology quite a bit. When I have time I will be writing up an indepth case history, but for now we are just 10 days into care. So I won't be online much for a while !
