Guest guest
This comment you made reminds me...when I was caring for a postpartum depressed client once about 13 years ago, I asked her what she thought was the worst thing that could go wrong. she said she feared that she was not the best mom for her baby and that maybe she even shouldn't be a mom. I told her this baby came to live with her, that he was on his right path so therefore she must be also. She said in later years this statement helped her immensely. I didn't know much about ppd then, having only been a doula for a couple of years, yet in her talks she says I saved her life with my little comments and just being there and understanding. She is now the depression advocate for mothers in Oregon, gives talks everywhere, is a counselor who specializes in postpartum depression, started www.babybluesconnection.com and is the regional coordinator for Postpartum Support International. So when I say it has to come from the mothers, I mean also that you never know how far our words can travel when we tell them what we know, even if it isn't much. I believe babies are participants with the mother, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally, and they choose their parents and their birth for their lessons and contracts with the parents "
Guest guest
YES! Women supporting women leads to amazing things. All of the four moms on my testimonies page are women now involved in birth -- two of them as a result of experiencing the healing work.
