APPLIED YOGA PSYCHOLOGY and AYURVEDA for DEPRESSION

Hi Everyone:

This course gives a significant view to the different types of

depression. Postpartum depression tends to be mostly vata imbalance

with some extremes pitta also, according to most of my teachers. Dr.

Lad offered some specific about hmm, vata pushing pitta, I believe,

into the manja dhatu (muscle tissue). I have not had the opportunity

to satisfactorly wrap my understanding around that one, but honor his

teaching greatly. Prenatal depression is a significant problem in the

west, unfortunately without the simple wisdom Ayurveda offers for

managing it with diet, lifestyle and herbs, avoiding the controversies

and risks around antidepressant use. It is a topic we practitioners

in perinatal care will gain much from.

Sarasvati is an excellent Ayurvedic practitioner, trained in India

gurukula style and based in Boulder, COlorado, USA. Dona, was her

teacher with Dr. Trivediji, or Dr. Divediji? She is published on the

subject in peer-reviewed journals and has been of great support in

understanding some of my clients and the ways of Ayurveda for

supporting them.
