Guest guest
Dear ONes; This grandmother is an AyurDoula whose first grandbaby Vera had a similar problem with amazingly quick results (baby was out of ICU and in Mama's nursing arms thriving by the next day!) Sharing this story and my responses to my friend, Gaura. Dear Ysha, Jai Radhe! My client went into labor & I just spent fri morn til sat evening w/her & saw my first caserean performed! I am also doing Vaisnavi's treatments for Rasa & start that today. The other couples baby seems to be having respirtorary issues & has been put in ICU I guess for intravenous antibiotics. Shannon & Rick are into natural healing & want me to bring in some eo's like I did for Vera. I thought Raven since I don't have any RC. What else would you suggest? I'm going tomorrow w/their prasadam & would like to get the oils to her tomorrow. I am having to put on hold for a few days my cooking for you. I have 2 clients right now. Hpe to hear from you now!?! love, GP On 9/9/07, Ysha Oakes wrote: Yes! Gaura, My Dear Friend; For this family, it depends on how much you/they are able to do in the hospital, but I'd come armed with several plus a little thick carrier oil like ghee or castor oil, and see what you can do. With Vera if you remember, I gave Madhavi instructions to just get some oil on that baby however she was allowed to touch her (or not allowed but could wear and maybe sneak!). She put RC on Vera's chest, and I think she had a fever? either we used peppermint on her feet for the fever or thieves for the microbial hit, or maybe just lavender for calming and broad spectrum support. I remember 2 oils used. For respiratory, like with herbs (these are still from the plants stronger and quicker acting and easily absorbed through the skin) many work to support in slightly different ways. Choose from among what you have with reminders for use below, and as discussed in my Essential Oils Desk REference, Appendix S, Body Systems chart which is not complete but more than enough! (blends by our resource name are capitalized) 1. opening the channels (congestion) kick phlegm (usually same as opening)- RC/eucalyptuses, raven, Ravensara, lemongrass, fir, peppermint, bay laurel, ginger, sage, myrtle, myrrh, evergreens, citruses) 3. soothing and calming (cedar, cypress, melaleuca ericafolia, myrrh, evergreens, citruses) 4. antiinfectuous (Thieves/cinnamon-cloves-lemon-rosemary, RC/eucalyptuses, cedar, thyme, bay, Melrose/tea trees, myrtle, myrrh, peppermint, sage, Purification, nutmeg, oregano, Immupower, Juvatone, Abundance blends) 5. promote lymph flow (lemongrass, cedar, lemon) 6. even grounding can be considered. Choose from what you have, and with the wisdom you have about which to be extra cautioius with by doshic and intensity issues. Err on the cautious side to dilute, especially careful because of busy little fingers around eyes/mucosa. Remember babies are so sensitive and respond well to even a little or a weaker oil. And they will benefit from the combined benefits from many different oils when different effects are needed, or look where same oil is on multiple lists. If prevented from touching the baby (parents MUST touch their babies even in hospitals, in my strong opinion, to speed healing!) you can even rub a drop on your palms until dry and hold just off the skin a little. Babies skin is so pourous, it absorbs a lot anyway from the volatile molecules in the air. Diffuse. Wear whenever around them, maybe the stronger ones. And offer Mom some calming influences/hormonal support maybe clary sage, bergamot (where the sun don't shine ONLY), geranium, or Valor and Joy blends for sure. You too! Dad will appreciate being included at least in the Valor. So glad you are in service to these families! Remember the recipes when you are cooking for them; feedback on any other recipes you have adapted are welcome too, of course. Many blessings, Ysha PS: with respiratory stuff, if you can apply a diluted drop on the upper back, behind the lungs, this is helpful along with chest and feet too - I use one oil on feet, other chest and back. Guest guest
Just in case anyone didn't get this, the list of oils in this message was pretty extensive and if it were my baby, with suitable dilution I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them but I wouldn't recommend the stronger ones if something gentler could be used. Many are not cautious enough how they use oils, and many are using oils that are not organic, ie they tend to carry petrochems in harmful concentration also. Oregano, thyme, clove, cinnamon, savory, tehse hot oils, and the penetrating ones too like eucalyptus, mints, cardamom, have to be used if that's what you have to work with, with dilution and extra caution. Namaste; Ysha >Shannon & Rick are into natural healing & want me to bring in some eo's like I did for Vera. I thought Raven since I don't have any RC. What else would you suggest?
