Guest guest
Hi Vicky - > when you said put it on the forum, i thought you meant mention my mentoring talk on the perinatal group. Vicky Actually, your free doula armchair mentoring gathering in Portland sounds like such a simple and good idea, that was my encouragement to share. IN the big cities at least, it seems the focus is so much to set things up all official with a cost and a rented space and publicity expenses and all, all the while feeling we are missing the community aspect of it, don't you think? Especially at our age and experience in life, it is our role to mentor new people in the field, and it is of course our joy to spend time with their enthusiasm, mother their doubts, and work together for our common purposes. I wish you a good response from those " new " wisewomen, and am inspired myself to offer more such gatherings when home again. Love, Ysha
Guest guest
yes, everytime i offer a class someone capitalizes on it. even the hospital. it won't be long before they and others will be offering classes for grandparents as I just started doing. no one else is doing it right now. When I lived in Eugene I wrote an article for Midwifery Today called Perinatal Mood Disorders: Understanding and Helping. They asked me to write it but offered no payment. Now a doula there is charging $75 to teach a class called Perinatal Mood Disorders: How a Doula can Help. This mentor class is just my way of giving back to the community, getting my name out there too. Not sure how to post it on the forum except to suggest that more of the older professionals do similar things. is that what you mean? Sounds like it. So simple. I'm weary of everything having a price tag on it, even though i need the money more than anyone. There are other things. With all your enthusiasm, and energy, I imagine you to be in your early 20's, and very wise for your years!!! xo Patti Patti Garland Ayurvedic Chef and Organic Gardener Bliss Kitchen http://www.BlissKitchen.com (760) 238-6451 Especially at our age
Guest guest
Oh Patti, we haven't actually met in person yet, have we? I'll be 60 next September, hard for me to believe too! Though the energy and enthusiasm you speak of...really manifests in very specific channels only and I do have to take better care of myself. Thanks for your kind respects - Ysha > I had to laugh when I read this Ysha. > > With all your enthusiasm, and energy, I imagine you to be in your > early 20's, and very wise for your years!!!
