Guest guest
Dear Friends - Dr. BHate has shared some easy to do remedies for this request, transferred from the ayurveda forum. I thought you would appreciate the simple recipes, I often get requests to help young children who won't eat enough, and mom is depleted from long breastfeeding or has another baby now. Shirish, at what age is this appropriate, on the youngest end would you suggest? Also, I'm told ashwagandha is safe and effective even for young ones, and to eliminate pinworms. How might you use? Warm Regards, Ysha > She is very active but thin. I am bit reluctant to give her multivitamins at this age. Can I know any other natural or ayurvedic options to build up the immunity & strength in her? Is it okay to give her Dabur > Chyawanprash every day? 1} Soak 4 Dates (or 10 raisins) for 2-3 hours, Boil them in a cup of milk for 10 minutes and give after mixing a little cardamom powder. Two times a day to make a her strong and healthy. Some weight gain also will occur. 2) The mixture of 4 tsp spinach vegetable juice in honey daily once, makes children strong and healthy. 3) Naturally ripened Banana amd a cup of milk over it is a simplest receipe for strength. Whether weight is gained or not depends on constitution of the kid. In receipe 1, you can also add 2 almond seeds, 1 apricot, 2 Cashewnuts, if available. You can powder these and add to boiling milk. Alternative is to soak these overnight and take in the morning after grinding with a little water in kitchen blender. Soaking gives rise to additional B, C, E vitamins in nuts. You can give Chyvanprash, 1 tsp maximum at breakfast time, and give milk at Sr No. 1 after it. Better still, if you are in India (your post sounds you are not) give juice of two aamla fruits mixed with 1 tsp honey, first thing in the morning empty stomach. Aamla will be available for next 2-3 months. Any of the above recommendations builds immunity too. If immunity is the objective, fresh fruits and carrot/beet juice, wheat grass juice will be the choice. Most important, there remains a possibility that she is suffering from pin worms or thread worm in the intestines. They do not give any indication in symptoms except for underweight children. If present, none of the above remedies will give desired results. Stop curd, milk, shreekhand, Basundi etc milk products, sweets, bakery items, legumes if worms present. There are slow but sure anti-worm treatments in ayurveda, if that is the case. Dr Bhate
Guest guest
Don't forget not to overlook genetics. Parents who were skinny as kids often have kids like that in spite of how much they eat. Also eating for their particular doshas might not be attended to until they are old enough to express their cravings.
