Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I was just wondering if anyone has read " How Aromatherapy Works " by Michael Alexander? I am hoping to find out if this would be a good investment? Or, if it seems to be another book to add to the growing list of aromatherapy 'novels'. You can email me off list if you have any information. Thanks so much! Kamron

I am hoping to find out if this would be a good investment? Or, if it seems to be another book to add to the growing list of aromatherapy 'novels'. You can email me off list if you have any information. Thanks so much! Kamron Hi Kamron, This book is definitely not another aromatherapy novel. It is a 600-page in depth study of olfactory function, principles of cognitive and physiological psychology, mind-body connection including the anatomy of olfaction in the brain and its influence on behavior. That's just chapter one which includes explanation of consciousness, perception, psychoneuroimmunology; describes the prefrontal cortex, temporal lobes, thalamus, hypothalamus, ANS (autonomic nervous system), limbic system, basal ganglia, cingulate, amygdala, hippocampus and pleasure centers. Chapter 2 delves into the multiplicitous functionalities of essential oils affecting olfaction and related nervous system activity. Chapter 3 explains the potentiation of olfactory neurotransmission on nervous system-related behaviors. Chapter 4 covers olfaction and the general nature of endrocrinology and chapter 5 assesses olfaction and the endocrine organs of the brain: the hypothalamus and pituitary, their hormones and the endocrine hormones they effect. Our friend and colleague Sylla Sheppard-Hanger wrote the introduction. It is filled with diagrams and illustrations and is very medically oriented. Definitely not frou-frou. Michael offers a periodic class based on the premise of this book which would be considered advanced aromatherapy. Guest guest
Hi Marcia Sorry to come back on this one but I keep looking for details of the book to add to the review page and cannot find any details on it at all... Do you by any chance have the ISDN number, publisher or any other details I can add? Thanks LLx PS I've put Aromaconnection in the links folder - can you check if the description is OK - took it from your manifesto so hope that's OK with you? If not I can change it. Ta!
