Guest guest
this pain below the ribs is called hypochondriac pain, but it is not because you or anyone experiencing that is a hypochondriac. the word means " below the ribs " originally, and is a sure sign of liver qi being either too strong or too weak and not flowing into the spleen properly, or the spleen being too weak to handle the liver qi properly. this will cause stomach heat (the spleen and stomach being yin/yang of each other), and the spleen will be too weak to maintain the direction of the stomach and lung qi which need to go down. you will then get stomach and lung problems. the origin of your liver problems could be caused by the kidneys, or the liver could be the origin of your problems. any heat problem would get worse with menopause. i learned a lot by checking the meridians and points at www.acuxo.com and checking the symptoms list described with each point. you will see that the last two liver points (i think 13 and 14 or is it 12 and 13?) deal with this issue - pain below the ribs and blockage of liver qi to the spleen. as for nutrition, don't give up. it's actually not so complicated to have a diet that can help you, but there are some things you really need to stay away from - raw vegetables for stomach heat being one of them. eat all your vegetables super well cooked for a while. and beef and pork are good for the spleen, and it sounds like you need help there. aloe vera should help you with the pain below the ribs. and, people with your type of problem (heat in the stomach) tend to be really sensitive to all types of environmental things, much more so than other people, so it's not YOU, it's your condition. Guest guest
The spleen is on the left side; the liver on the right. If you're having pains in the left side as well as on the right, have you been tested for mononucleosis (glandular fever as it's called in UK countries)? A monospot test is inexpensive. A few dollars. If it comes up positive, the Epstein-Barr titer test is more expensive as is the test to see if there are antibiotics to Cytomegalovirus. (Approximately 90% of cases of mono are caused by the EB virus; most of the remaining 10% are due to CMV.) If you have had mono (or have it), you may want to tell your acupuncturist. Sometimes when a person has an illness like mono, it doesn't " clear " completely. The " Evil " remains trapped in the body. I will ask when I go for treatment tomorrow :-) >(the spleen and stomach being yin/yang of each other), and the spleen will be too weak to maintain the direction of the stomach and lung qi which need to go down. you will then get stomach and lung problems. the origin of your liver problems could be caused by the kidneys, or the liver could be the origin of your problems. any heat problem would get worse with menopause. > >i learned a lot by checking the meridians and points at www.acuxo.com thanks much !!! I used to buy aloe vera gell in a big jug and drink a cup a day back when I thought I had an ulcer. it turns out I didn't (this was about 10 years ago) but it did help I'll look to getting some again. >and, people with your type of problem (heat in the stomach) tend to be really sensitive to all types of environmental things, much more so than other people, so it's not YOU, it's your condition. thanks for all the great info ! Sometimes when a person has an illness like mono, it >doesn't " clear " completely. The " Evil " remains trapped in the body. I got quite a bit of information from all the posts. I will try to find a tactful way to find out more information. Just as a note. I had a growth which a cosmetic surgeon said was an " age spot " on my cheek. It was there for about 2 years and dark and raised. What I might term a liver spot. I asked Shumei it is was a liver meridian and she said it was related to the stomach. It was dark and thick. About 10 days ago it fell off. My husband was very surprised. He had had success with acupuncture for digestion, but this was very impressive. She had said " When you are better it will go away of its own accord. " So I don't want to question her in a way that implies criticism, so I'll try to find out a way to phrase the seeking of knowledge which it what is actually going on. But with language differences I don't want to accidentally show disrespect. Thanks for the email ! Cheers, Cat ^. .^ ~
