Probably even misspelled it. Not sure which it is.

Very itchy on a friend.

Any idea for very scaley skin behind ears and scalp?

And would oil be bad for it.

How about Coconut Oil infused with calendula and other herbs with some

EO's

Psoriasis generally responds marvelously to kukui nut oil--include severe cases

due to agent orange exposure.

We start eczema care with a switching to an all natural soap--one that has

worked excellently for my clients is unscented Baby's First Soap from

MoonDanceSoaps.com. Also my friend's castille soap, but she doesn't have her

store online yet. Eczema is generally allergy/asthma related so I would advise

NOT starting with an infused oil...just a plain high-quality nourishing oil.

Avocado is supposed to be helpful, but do not use if there is a latex allergy.

Diagnosis is out of my scope of practice. My involvement has been in terms of

clients coming to me with the issue already labeled.

My apologies for not being a more definitive reference. *grin*

Probably common dermatitis, the most often diagnosed malady with those

symptoms. Typically caused by a fungus. A proper diagnosis is what is

needed first. Putting oils, herbs or EOs on an unknown condition may

make it worse.

Hi Alison,

First you need to find out for sure if it is eczema or psorisis.

See your doctor. Then you may have to do more foot work yourself.

Both conditions can be caused by underlying health issues that include allergies

to foods, contact dermatitis, infections bacterial or fungal and the list goes

on.

Sometimes using the right combination of a fixed oil with an essential MAY help

but you may need to find out what is triggering the skin to react this way and

avoid or eliminate the cause.

My husband had terrible eczema 7 years ago. Head to toe. Couldn't sleep

couldn't eat, was scratching himself raw. Went to the Doctor, she prescribed

some lotion and some Prednisone. He got WORSE!!

Why? Well, a few days later my hubby discovered after he ate some nuts he

started to itch. Called the Dr and she said 'Hmmm might be food allergies " He

got tested for food allergies. CORN was a big culprit.

Corn was in the Prednisone tablets! Uggh!

Eliminated corn and the other food offenders and in less than a month the eczema

cleared up and as long as he stays away from the offender - namely corn and all

it's bizillon by products he is fine.

Also he has to get ample sunlight or fake sun at the tanning booth in the winter

months here in Minnesota, and his skin is free from eczema lesions.

So you can try some oils but eliminating the cause of the trigger for both

conditions will give you more lasting relief.

I make a special cream for him to use when he does get into something that

causes a flareup. It helps sooth it and heal it more quickly. But it won't

stop the reaction to the corn, it just helps heal the skin after the damage has

occured.

Hope this helps a little.

Alison, here's a website with some very good definitions and pictures . . .

It is a non-commercial site, and they also have a section on tea tree oil .

.. . With standard precautions, but a long list of eo's that blend well with

tea tree and no cautions or dilution ratios. The disease/symptom pages and

pictures are very good, however.
